A fairly large number of filler preparations are presented on the market of aesthetic medicine, injections of which are very popular and in demand today. On October 10, for the first time in Ukraine, a unique line of Belotero fillers from Merz Aesthetics was presented.
Anastasia Saybel, a dermatovenereologist and cosmetologist, international expert Merz Aesthetics , spoke in detail about their features, advantages and important characteristics in an exclusive interview for estet-portal.com.
What what distinguishes Belotero fillers from similar drugs
А.С. Today, this is a new name for the drug for Ukraine, because we all know very well that there was once a line of Esthelis here. The Swiss company Anteis produced two brands with the same structure and composition - these are Esthelis and Belotero. And it so happened that when Merz Aesthetics, let's say, bought all the production and preparations, it was decided that there would be one name all over the world - only Belotero. Therefore, in part, my Ukrainian colleagues are already familiar with this filler, and I think that they have only positive impressions after using this drug.
The Belotero range stands out for its high cleaning performance.
We say all the time that what drug we inject is the doctor's responsibility. Today, Dr. Jani van Loghem, in his report, emphasized that it is not the price that matters, but, first of all, the ability to create a guaranteed and safe result for patients.
Belotero is the very filler that allows us to directly control the injection itself and correct any age-related changes on the faces of our patients, from the most superficial wrinkles to deep, pronounced, volumetric correction .
Belotero is predictable in this regard and we see clinical studies that show results and a guaranteed effect.
Belotero products are based on a unique cohesive polydensified matrix technology
This is proprietary technology, so of course we will never fully know the full details of the production. Just like other companies have their own commercial name, here too the KPM technology reflects the uniqueness of the production, and, accordingly, the structure of the fillers.
It is this technology that creates the maximum cohesiveness or homogeneity of preparations, which makes it possible to inject them with an optimal ability to be distributed in the injection zone, without causing, on the one hand, any conglomerates, which can then be expressed in contouring on the surface, or in the manifestation of the effect Tyndall, which happens when working with other fillers.
But, on the other hand, this homogeneity during volumetric correction with Belotero Volume is further supported by high plasticity and elasticity. Together with cohesiveness, we see the preservation of volume in the injection zone, but at the same time, due to the CPM technology, the patient does not feel the presence of something foreign in the tissues. The patient receives the maximum visual result, which is also the most comfortable for him.
What is the effect of painlessness when administering Belotero
First of all, we are talking about the comfort of injection of any fillers from the Belotero line due to balanced osmolarity and ph parameters, which are as close as possible to physiological ones. Therefore, even without lidocaine, the injection provides minimal discomfort.
But, of course, when we work subdermally, it is better if it is a preparation with lidocaine. Again, Merz Aesthetics Belotero products have lidocaine added as a dry powder, and it's pure lidocaine because we put safety first.
According to statistics, most often, true allergic reactions occur in patients not to lidocaine itself, but to those preservatives that may be contained in ampoules with a solution. And I emphasize that pure lidocaine is added to Belotero, in a very small concentration - 3 mg / ml. But this is enough to make the procedure comfortable and absolutely safe.
Besides comfort and safety, what are the benefits of using Belotero products for the patient
Firstly, it is a guaranteed result. The line of Belotero preparations also varies in terms of the concentration of hyaluronic acid. Depending on the injection zone, we can talk about the preservation of the result after the correction of superficial wrinkles with the drug:
- Belotero Soft for 6 months,
- Belotero Balance ‑ about 8 months and speaking of drug correction
- Belotero Soft for 6 months.
- And injections of Belotero Volume, not just in words, but on the basis of research, give many patients the result of correction up to 18 months. And this is an absolutely safe result, because the fact that since 2005, since the creation of Belotero, there has not been a single reported case of granulomatous reaction, confirms the safety of these fillers. Therefore, the patient receives a long-term and safe result.
Do you combine injections of Belotero and Radiesse in your practice
In many situations I correct deep volumes with Belotero Volume, and in order to enhance lifting, improve skin quality and clarity of facial contours, I will use Radiesse based on calcium hydroxyapatite.
What is the uniqueness of the blanching technique
This is a really unique technique, but it requires practice because we are used to injecting filler by injecting at a 30° angle; to the surface of the skin. When we use Belotero Soft and Belotero Balance fillers, we must inject almost on the tangent surface of the skin, fixing it as much as possible in the injection zone, so that it is easier to make the injection itself, only the cut of the needle.
Then, a drug is injected, which is distributed in the dermis, filling its volume, and immediately smoothing and eliminating the superficial wrinkle. This technique was refined from the multipuncture technique by Dr. Patrick Michels, in addition, he carried out numerous studies.
The drugs were injected under ultrasound control so that we could see that the drug was really distributed only intradermally without changing the structure of the dermis. That is, high integration is confirmed under ultrasound guidance, as well as in studies with histology, not only after injection, but also with biopsy specimens on the 8th day, and also at the end of the 4th month.
The absence of any signs of any inflammatory reactions after the administration of Belotero preparations with such a superficial injection technique suggests that we can do the correction many times without provoking delayed reactions of chronic inflammation.
Which fillers from the Belotero line do you use in your daily practice
I can't give a clear answer because we are all different. Patients who come to us for aesthetic correction are also different, and on the same face we can see both superficial wrinkles and a lack of deep volumes.
The primary task of the doctor is to learn to see these changes, to learn how to make the right choice of the drug, of course, depending on the depth of the injection, and most importantly, to learn to hear the patient, because, indeed, it is very important to preserve individuality, and not work with all according to templates.
Of course, it's great when we have special recommendations on volumes and injection points, but we are so unique that in each case it is better to find our own drug to correct this aesthetic defect, and preserve the individuality of each of us.
