Los Angeles Times has published a selection of modern non-surgical body shaping methods based on the opinion of American doctors.

CoolSculpting

This FDA-approved method quickly became the "gold standard" for non-invasive fat removal. The method on which CoolSculpting works is called cryolipolysis. The vacuum nozzle sucks in the folds on the abdomen or sides and the effect of cold on fat cells begins, while the upper layers of the skin remain unaffected by low temperatures. With the help of CoolSculpting, about 25% of the fat cells that are affected by the device are destroyed. Subsequently, fat cells are excreted from the body naturally.

The procedure itself lasts an hour and is accompanied by moderate pain in the first minutes, when the beautician places the fold in the vacuum nozzle. After the skin becomes numb, the discomfort disappears. In only 60 out of 500,000 cases, patients complained of severe pain, says dermatologist Christopher Zachary, one of the first specialists to test the device. Swelling, redness, bruising, or lack of sensation may occur up to two weeks after the procedure.

According to an article by plastic surgeon Grant Stevens published in the Journal of Aesthetic Surgery, three out of 528 CoolSculpting patients complained of neuralgia within a few days.

Like other body shaping methods, CoolSculpting does not give instant results. It can be difficult to catch the gradual changes taking place in the figure, but after a few months it is already possible to put on a slim-fit shirt that was recently tight. Today, the number of positive reviews about the procedure is growing, especially when the patient repeats the session on the same part of the body two or more times, complementing the effect with a massage.

TruSculpt

This radio frequency device heats fat cells, causing them to apoptosis, that is, death. Then they are excreted from the body within one to three months.

Professionals argue about how much fat the device destroys. The manufacturer's website contains ultrasound data, according to which the patient loses more than 25% of body fat in the affected area after two procedures. Plastic surgeon K. Azar told the Los Angeles Times that the average reduction in body volume in the treatment area is 1-2 cm. The doctor has performed 200 procedures and is satisfied with the TruSculpt device, because it is multifunctional and allows you to work on the whole body, including on the hands , thighs, knees and under the chin.

Liposonix

This is a local fat reduction procedure using high intensity focused ultrasound. Destroyed fat cells are excreted from the body, according to the manufacturer, within two to three months. One hour Liposonix procedure makes it possible to say goodbye to two or three extra centimeters.

When the handle of the device slides over the patient's abdomen, discomfort, tingling and heat may appear in the treated area. "The procedure is extremely effective, but painful", – shares his impressions of Dr. Grant Stevens.

Zerona

The procedure is performed with a low-intensity laser and is designed to melt fat. She won the special attention of skeptics.

"This machine is 100% non-working, – comments Dr. Stevens.– We have never seen it help reduce body fat." The manufacturing company promises on its website a reduction in waist and hips by 9-10 centimeters, subject to four simple rules: & nbsp; drink plenty of water, cut down on alcohol and caffeine, keep a healthy diet, exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

Stevens isn't the only doctor who's not happy with Zerona. Many customers of Zerona, the distributor company, have begun to return devices earlier than expected. The company failed to pay the manufacturer and announced a reorganization in accordance with US bankruptcy laws.

Vanquish

Another painless fat removal method expected to be launched on the market this year. The Vanquish device promises to do its job without even touching the skin.

The results of a small European clinical study showed that the patient lost an average of 5.68 cm in the abdomen without side effects. Within an hour, there is slight redness and swelling. Dr. Stevens is currently testing this machine: "The pictures look good, but I don't have the final results yet. The jury is still deliberating."

Despite the low risk of all these techniques, make sure that the doctor who performs the procedure has the necessary skills, warns the Los Angeles Times. If the procedure is minimally invasive, this does not mean that you can give your body into the hands of an unskilled doctor.
