The tip of the nose becomes the second most important reason for visiting a plastic surgeon after correcting the hump. On the one hand, the shape of the tip of the nose can significantly change the appearance, giving it a more perky and cheerful look or classic sophistication. On the other hand, a lowered tip of the nose always adds age to its owner, and therefore rhinoplasty can have a rejuvenating effect. Finally, a nose tip that is too wide or a columella lowered too low creates disharmony in the overall perception of the face, and their correction helps to give the face more regular classical features.

The structure of the tip of the nose and its classical standards

The tip of the nose may be sharply upturned, pointed and down, wide and flattened. The ideal classical shape is considered to be such a shape of the nose, in which there is a streamlining and the absence of any inclination, a flat back, a rounded tip without raising or lowering – and most importantly, complete harmony with other facial features.

Ideally, the angle between the tip of the nose and the upper lip should be approximately 90°, the angle between the imaginary vertical from the bridge of the nose down and the line from the bridge of the nose along the back of the nose should be about 30°, and the columella should fall just below the level where the wings end nose.

The triangular and alar cartilages are responsible for the shape of the tip of the nose; when their ligaments weaken (which happens with age), the tip of the nose drops slightly. In addition to the cartilaginous ligaments, the tip of the nose is pulled down by ptotic tissues of the forehead and back of the nose, which, falling under the influence of gravity, lead to a displacement of the tip of the nose. At the same time, the features are noticeably heavier, and the face looks much older.

Features of nose tip correction surgery

Rhinoplasty, which corrects the tip of the nose, is considered the most sparing operation, since, as a rule, & nbsp; affects only the cartilages of the terminal part. On the other hand, this operation cannot be called simple, since the surgeon must observe harmony and proportions, take into account skin features, the contour of the back, the strength of the cartilage tissue, the angles of the arches and many other nuances when forming a new tip of the nose.

The basic principle of nose tip rhinoplasty – do not disturb the supporting cartilage structures, but work with the lower lateral cartilages so that the tip of the nose does not warp and fall even more due to the broken support. In this case, it is only important to correct the inharmonious anatomical structures of the nose, without affecting the normal ones, and to meet the patient's expectations.

Rhinoplasty technique for nose tip correction

Rhinoplasty to correct the tip of the nose can be performed both through external access and through incisions in the nasal passages. Excess cartilage tissue is removed, the cartilage is moved and fixed, sutured  in a new position. If necessary, plastic surgery of the wings of the nose, columella is additionally performed. Next, self-absorbable sutures are applied, the tip of the nose is fixed with a plaster.

The patient should be warned that swelling of the tip of the nose can persist for a very long time, so that the final results of rhinoplasty can only be judged six months or even a year after the operation. In the first few weeks after a nose tip correction, it is not recommended to drink hot water, wear heavy-rimmed glasses, sleep on your stomach, or do strenuous exercise.
