Research Purpose of Nutrakos Drinking Formula with Amino Acids  The main goal of the study – evaluate the effect of Nutrakos® amino acid supplementation; on the hydration and elasticity of skin areas exposed and not exposed to sunlight (volar and dorsal surface of the forearm) using non-invasive instrumental measurements.  

 

The study was conducted on 12 female volunteers aged 39 to 62 years (mean age 50 years) whose skin showed signs of photoaging and was type II or III according to the Fitzpatrick classification. All gave informed consent to participate and took the study drug for one month.

Nutrakos Dietary Supplement Study Design

Open-label pilot clinical study involving

continuous dietary supplementation for 1 month at a dosage of two sachets per day: the first – before breakfast, and the second – before dinner. The study drug was taken as is or dissolved in water or a cold drink of your choice. There were three visits during the study: original;

interim (after two weeks of taking the drug); final (after a month of admission).

Inclusion criteria required healthy adult volunteers to maintain their dietary, physical activity, make-up and skincare habits, and avoid high UV exposure (no tanning beds or sunbathing) for the duration of the study. Smokers, those who use alcohol or drugs, and pregnant women were not allowed to

participation.

Results of a study on the effectiveness of a dietary supplement with amino acids 

During the entire period of the study, not a single patient withdrew from it; there were no other significant events that could affect the test results. Statistical analysis was performed on 12 included patients who completed the study according to the protocol.

The activity of the test drug at each moment of the study is expressed in absolute values ​​compared to the baseline (T0). Data processing was performed using the non-parametric test (Fridman test), and the hypothesis of a normal distribution was rejected using the Shapiro-Wilk test

  Performance evaluation

Skin hydration Skin moisture measured in deep layers using MoistureMeterD. The viscoelasticity of the skin on the volar surface of the forearm improved significantly one month after the start of the drug.

These results emphasized the effectiveness of the reception for the volar surface of the forearm, starting from T2H, which was maintained until the end of the study, T1M. A clinically/statistically significant increase in skin hydration was found at depths of 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm (Fig. 1). On the dorsal surface of the forearm, where photoaging is more noticeable, an improvement in deep hydration was recorded at both the level of 0.5 mm (starting at T2H) and at the level of 1.5 mm (condition at T1M) deep into the skin, which is a sign of a curious, although so far and negligible impact in the dermis at medium depth.

Torsiometry (skin elasticity)

Measurements of superficial and deep skin elasticity were taken on the forearm (volar and dorsal surface).

The viscoelasticity of the skin has improved significantly

on the volar surface, starting from one month after the start of the drug (on the surface and in the deep layers of the skin). A statistically

significant improvement in elasticity was noted after 30 days

on the dorsal surface, which is more prone to damage due to photoaging and elastosis (Figure 2). These parameters are associated with improved skin tone/density.

Other torsiometric data did not reach statistical significance (perhaps due to the small sample size), but there was a curious trend towards improvement in skin elasticity.

 

Volunteer performance evaluation

At the end of the study (T1M), each patient completed a questionnaire on the efficacy and tolerability of the treatment. Considering all the answers "medium", "noticeable" and «very noticeable», there is a clear

positive feedback from the participants about the drug in terms of its effect on the elasticity, hydration and smoothness of the skin.  

No adverse events/reactions occurred during the study. The investigator rated the tolerability of the test drug as good/excellent in 100% of the patients.

Conclusions

Taking into account the accepted scheme of the experiment, this pilot study confirmed the increase in hydration and elasticity of the dermis as a result of taking a dietary supplement with amino acids
