Features of aesthetic correction of male and female faces

In an exclusive interview for estet-portal.com PhD, dermatovenereologist, cosmetologist, international trainer in contouring (Galderma company), certified trainer in botulinum therapy (Bofur Ipsen Pharma company) Dyachenko Julia Yuryevna spoke about what needs to be considered in the aesthetic correction of male and female faces, and why, in order to achieve the best result, it is necessary to use only high-quality and safe preparations.

What are the main components of a successful cosmetologist practice?

The main components of the success of the practice of a cosmetologist – it is a brilliant knowledge of anatomy, the ability to evaluate the patient from an aesthetic point of view and, of course, a safe preparation.

What differences between requests for aesthetic correction in women and men

If women usually know exactly what they would like to improve in their appearance – remove nasolabial folds, wrinkles around the eyes, make the oval of the face more clear, improve the shape of the nose or lips, then men, most often, cannot indicate a specific aesthetic request.

The most common phrase among my patients – "I want to look fresher."

This phrase gives the cosmetologist the opportunity to approach more globally, in terms of anti-age correction and recreating the harmony and balance of the architectonics of the face of each patient, without in any way detracting from individual characteristics.

Which deficiencies do you focus on correcting in your work with male and female patients?

For a male patient, with the help of contouring, we can emphasize his masculine facial features, just as we can draw the attention of a female patient to the features that will make her  the face is more "feminine" and interesting. The ability to combine elements of beautification and anti-aging therapy in one procedure makes our profession a real art.

Are there any differences in the choice of aesthetic correction procedures for men and women?

It is interesting that men and women "age" in different ways and, of course, this leaves an imprint on the primary choice and effectiveness of aesthetic correction procedures.

The aging process has a well-studied anatomical and physiological basis. Based on these features, you can choose the most appropriate correction technique in each case. However, in addition to technical skill on the part of the doctor, a safe preparation is also needed for a successful procedure.

What preparations do you personally choose for the aesthetic correction of your patients?

In my case, many years ago, the choice was made in favor of the Restylane line of products. For me, as a practitioner, several characteristics of preparations are very important:

• rheological properties, that is, how the drug will be distributed in tissues and resist the effects of surrounding tissues, including mimic muscles;
• physical characteristics – that is, how much of the drug can achieve this or that effect;
• chemical characteristics, including the content of the stabilizer and other components that supplement hyaluronic acid, which represent an additional immune burden on the patient's body.

Do the Restylane products meet all of these characteristics?

According to numerous studies, Restylane line products have maximum properties of resistance to deformation in tissues, a minimum amount of additional chemical components, and, to date, a large number of techniques have been presented for the safe and effective work of a cosmetologist.
