Почему я так чувствую: неадекватная реакция кожи на раздражители и ее причины

The causes of increased skin reactivity can be both internal and external. Inadequate sensitivity, manifested by burning, inflammation and peeling, can be provoked by illiterate home care, too aggressive salon procedures, harmful environmental factors, and many more reasons. It is important for a cosmetologist not only to figure out what prompted the increased reaction of the skin, but also what changes are taking place in it now, how to correct them as successfully as possible. Which processes increase sensitivity and increase skin reaction

One of the key reasons for increased sensitivity and unpleasant skin reactions to procedures is a violation of the water-lipid balance. The lipid mantle on the skin is formed by the secretion of the sebaceous and sweat glands. It has a slightly acidic reaction, due to which many forms of microorganisms, falling on the skin, immediately die. Together with sweat, the enzyme lysozyme is also released, which enhances the antibacterial properties of the water-lipid mantle. If in the process of skin care, for example, with the use of ordinary soap, the acid-base balance indicator has changed, this leads to an increase in its permeability to bacteria, toxins, allergens, which means – and changes in skin sensitivity.

The integrity of the lipid barrier can be compromised by surfactants found in cleansers, improperly performed peels, and exposure to UV radiation from the sun.

Sebum production plays an important role in maintaining a normal skin response to external influences. The lack of this secret causes increased dryness of the skin. Overproduction has an irritating effect.

Oxidative stress plays an important role in enhancing the skin's response to exposure. Free oxygen radicals are particularly active in reacting with epidermal lipids, destroying the protective layer of the skin. To combat free radicals, the skin has certain defense mechanisms:

  • surface layers of cells that act as a screen;
  • melanocyte pigment cells;
  • an antioxidant system composed of minerals and enzymes.

In the process of antioxidant reactions, various chemicals are formed. And if the enzymatic systems of the body cannot cope and do not have time to break them down, then excessive accumulation of these reaction products occurs in the skin, and oxidative stress occurs with an inadequate reaction of the skin and the development of its hypersensitivity.

What are the ways to reduce the sensitivity and reaction of the skin

Unpredictable skin reactions to cosmetic treatments can be mitigated and controlled with the right choice of cosmetic products. What will have to be abandoned or, if possible, minimized:

  • ingredients that can cause skin irritation – dyes, fragrances;
  • botanical biostimulants;
  • some vitamins (for example, retinol can cause an inadequate reaction);
  • proteins and fats of animal origin;
  • Some preservatives in high concentration.

Without preservatives, any cosmetic products deteriorate quickly and can cause even more damage to sensitive skin. Therefore, you need to choose products with low toxicity preservatives – these are kathone, parabens, alkylbenzoic acid.

For the relief of a severe skin reaction in the composition of care products intended for sensitive skin, the following ingredients are needed:

  • general adaptogens and modulators of plant origin (ginseng, aralia, echinacea);
  • anti-inflammatory extracts (chamomile, calendula, yarrow);
  • vegetable lipids (primrose oil, rosehip, borage, corn);
  • ceramides;
  • antioxidants (vitamins A, E and C, lipoic acid, selenium, bioflavonoids);
  • capillary protectors (extracts of arnica, hawthorn, chokeberry);
  • moisturizers (urea and its derivatives, hyaluronic acid).

All these substances contribute to the normalization of the water-lipid mantle of the skin, help to reduce sensitivity. Cosmetic products should have a light texture, eliminate inflammation and irritation, protect the skin from moisture loss and the influence of negative environmental factors.
