A mandatory rule for the treatment of eczema of any etiology is the regular and constant use of emollients, the rejection of all possible irritating detergents and personal hygiene products. The patient should be asked about what he himself has done to treat eczema and how he takes care of his skin. Medicines that include chlorine, astringents, alcohol-based lotions, and hot water washing may worsen the condition. Neomycin, certain corticosteroids, and preservatives found in various drugs and cosmetics can be potential irritants that exacerbate dermatitis. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify what means and cosmetics the patient uses at home.

  1. Identification and treatment of concomitant pathology, exclusion of allergens and irritants, adherence to a diet are factors that contribute to the most favorable prognosis of the disease.
  2. Moisturizers containing lactic acid, urea or glycolic acid (lotions, tonics, creams).
  3. For the treatment of primary inflammation, medium-strength topical corticosteroids, mainly on an ointment basis, are used. Treatment with corticosteroid ointments should be prolonged until peeling and redness subside, but not less than 2-3 weeks. Sensitive skin care products, including emollients, are then used to prevent relapses.
  4. Wet compresses with Burow's fluid and topical corticosteroids are used to clean wounds and reduce inflammation.
  5. When weeping, inflammation and crusting subside, wet compresses should be discontinued to avoid excessive drying of the affected areas.
  6. Systemic antibiotics can be indicated for secondary infection of wounds, which is evidenced by sticky honey-colored crusts - lotions with a solution of chloramphenicol are prescribed.

Traditional medicines can also have a significant positive impact. There are several effective and simple recipes:

  • Soothing and moisturizing agent: pour 100 g of chopped chamomile 500 ml of olive oil. Let it brew for 10 days in a warm place. Use strained oil as a cream, rub on the affected skin 2-3 times a day.
  • Crushed willow bark 1 tsp. pour 500 ml of boiling water, let it brew for a day, strain. The decoction is used for lotions several times a day.
  • Sea buckthorn oil has an excellent effect on dry eczema. Lubricate the skin with it several times a day or after lotions.
  • A decoction of birch leaves: 200 g of leaves per 1 liter of boiling water is used in the form of baths or lotions. After the procedure, apply sea buckthorn or olive oil to the skin.

Treatment of dry eczema is a long process, get ready for it right away! But modern methods and approaches give a lasting result. If the disease still tends to periodically worsen, it may be necessary to reconsider the means that you use for treatment, and the duration of their use. In any case, consultation and observation by a dermatologist is a prerequisite for the treatment of eczema of any etiology.
