Правильный подход к ведению пациента: рекомендации дерматокосметолога Натальи Макиши

In their practice, aesthetic medicine specialists face very different clinical situations, and in order to get the best result of aesthetic procedures, it is very important to develop the right tactics for managing the patient. It is somewhat different for each doctor, but there are important recommendations that absolutely every specialist should follow.

Natalia Makisha, a top category dermatovenereologist, cosmetologist, Institute Hyalual certified trainer, spoke about the correct approach to patient management in an exclusive interview for estet-portal.com.

Tell us how a cosmetologist should start working with a patient

When a patient comes to an appointment with a cosmetologist, first of all, it is necessary to make a cosmetological diagnosis. Often, all cosmetic procedures are performed not by age, but by the condition of the skin, so the doctor needs to determine the type of skin aging, its condition, turgor, elasticity, types of wrinkles, and so on. Patients often ask us about the age at which anti-aging treatments should be started.

It is important to explain to them that it does not depend on age, but on the condition of the skin, and it is in accordance with this that the type, volume and number of necessary procedures are determined. The patient must also tell the cosmetologist what kind of result he wants to get in the final result, and only then the specialist determines which procedures can be used to achieve this.

The main mistake of a beautician – when he follows the client's lead, that is, the client dictates to the doctor what needs to be done.

In this case, it often happens that the procedures performed were not shown to the patient, or they were carried out in the wrong quantity or volume, as a result of which the patient does not receive the desired effect, and  he has a negative opinion about the work of a specialist. That is why only a cosmetologist should determine the tactics of managing a patient, and the client, depending on his financial capabilities and social factors, decides what he is ready to do, and what he is not yet psychologically set up for. And only taking into account all these factors is determined & nbsp; optimal patient management plan.

What must be done by a cosmetologist before prescribing a certain injection procedure to a patient

First, it is imperative to collect the patient's history and determine if he has absolute or relative contraindications to the injection procedure. If there are absolute contraindications – it is strictly forbidden to perform the procedure!

If a patient is allergic and not sure if they are allergic to an anesthetic, which is often used before injection procedures – it is necessary to make an application test. Relative contraindications include, for example, the temporary use of certain medications, fever, the presence of concomitant pathologies, and so on.

Only a healthy patient should come to a cosmetologist's appointment, and if he has chronic diseases – they should all be in remission. Also, the patient must be informed about what recommendations he should follow after the procedure, so that its result is as pronounced and safe as possible.

If we determined which drug is suitable for the patient, depending on his age and type of aging, we confirmed that he has no contraindications for the procedure, and he agrees with all the nuances of post-procedure care – such a patient is ready for the procedure.

What criteria must a quality drug for injection procedures meet

The drug must be safe – it comes first, because the doctor's first commandment – do no harm. Aesthetic medicine specialists work with the face, and this is probably the most expensive thing for both women and men, and all the side effects on the face are immediately visible.

Second – this is efficiency, people should understand what they are paying money for, and that rejuvenation is really possible and real when using high-quality drugs. The drug must be certified – this allows you to legally secure the beautician. If an allergic reaction occurs -  in favor of the beautician that he used a drug certified in Ukraine.

Well, one more, very important moment for today is the ratio of price and quality. Since 2009, I have been working with Hyalual, and I have absolutely no complaints about it, either in terms of safety, effectiveness, or any other issues.

Why do you prefer to use Hyalual injections when choosing a patient management strategy

Because today there are a lot of preparations of different brands containing hyaluronic acid on the beauty market, but only Hyalual makes a hybrid preparation that combines hyaluronic acid and sodium succinate in its composition. These two components perfectly complement and enhance each other's action, as a result of which we get a more pronounced and faster result than if we used a single drug.

In addition, it is more physiological, because the respiratory function of cells suffers with aging, and succinic acid can restore this ability. Therefore, this combination is very justified.

In what cases can you refuse to work with a patient

The first thing that should be between a patient and a cosmetologist – this is full trust, if it is not there – working with a person will be very difficult. If the patient trusts his doctor – he must follow the path of rehabilitation recommended by the specialist. If the patient does not hear the doctor or does not believe him – it is better to refuse such a client, because he will always be dissatisfied.

You can't follow the lead of your clients! Of course, their wishes and possibilities should be taken into account, but, in any case, only the doctor determines how, in what form and when rejuvenation should be performed, and what methods should be used for this.

Do you have any favorite aesthetic procedures that you recommend to your patients

This is definitely skin redermalization with Hyalual. When designing a patient management program, I make sure to include redermalization in it, and I have no patients who do not undergo this procedure. She has no age restrictions: if the patient is young – we will moisturize the skin and perform the prevention of photoaging, if the procedure is performed on an older patient – we will work with wrinkles, lymphedema and other manifestations of aging.

Redermalization is one of the best treatments available today.

It does not require the purchase of expensive equipment, which is now very important for many specialists, it is very convenient that the syringe is opened in front of the patient, and he sees that this drug is intended only for him. In addition, we get the result after the procedure quite quickly, and, most importantly, – it is very safe.

This is why I believe that redermalization is one of the best procedures that exists today.
