Способны ли пробиотики улучшить состояние кожи

Despite the advances in modern medicine and dermatology, inflammatory diseases of the sebaceous and hairy apparatus of the skin, such as acne (or acne), is an urgent medical and social problem of our time. The relevance of acne is due to the highest prevalence among human skin diseases.

Microbial composition of the skin in acne

In acne, there is a violation of the microbial landscape of the skin; in patients with acne, the skin is often isolated: staphylococci; streptococci; yeast-like fungi; Propionbacterium acnes.

Most researchers consider the pathogenetically significant causative agent of acne Propionbacterium acnes, which is most often found in the excretory duct of the sebaceous gland.

In the treatment of acne, numerous antibacterial measures are widely used, which themselves can lead to a violation of microbiocenosis. Therefore, during treatment, it is important not only to eradicate pathogenetically significant infectious agents, but also to normalize the microbial landscape of the body. For this, probiotics are used for various diseases.

Research on the use of probiotics in the treatment of acne

The purpose of one of the studies in dermatology was to determine the feasibility and pathogenetic rationale for the use of probiotics to improve the effectiveness of acne treatment. The work was carried out in two stages. At the first stage, in order to determine the systemic nature of microbiocenosis disorders, a parallel microbiological study of the skin and intestines was carried out in 73 patients with acne .

It has been found that as the severity of the disease in patients increases, the total number of bacteria on unaffected skin areas, as well as the number of coagulase-positive and coagulase-negative staphylococci on the affected skin.

With an increase in the severity of acne, the percentage of seeding of the skin flora also increases. In the affected areas of the skin, the total number of bacteria and staphylococci was higher compared to the group that had milder acne. Propionibacterium acnes was also detected on the affected skin.

The data obtained confirm a stable point of view about the change in the microbial landscape of the skin with an increase in the severity of acne disease. Gut microbiota and acne severity

An important question is whether acne patients have not only changes in the microbial landscape of the skin, but also other biotopes.

In the intestines of patients, as the severity of acne increased, the number of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli decreased

, but the number of opportunistic and saprophytic flora increased, such as: - staphylococci;

- non-fermenting E. coli;

- proteus;

- mushrooms.

Moreover, if in patients with a small number of comedones there was no significant difference in the content of various microflora, then already in patients with a large number of comedones and in a group with a small number of papules, pustules and comedones, there were significantly fewer bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, which corresponds to grade I dysbiosis.

The results of the studies indicate

a systemic violation of microbiocenosis in patients with acne

; as the severity of the disease increases, the microbial landscape is disturbed not only in the skin, but also in the intestines. Follow our updates on

Facebook! The foregoing substantiates the need for correction of microbiocenosis disorders in acne patients not only of the skin, but also of other biotopes of the body. The effectiveness of systemic probiotics in the treatment of acne was found in this study.

After 6 months from the start of treatment, the clinical picture became significantly better than before treatment; significantly better results were found in the group with the additional use of the probiotic, namely:

- reduction in the number of comedones;

- absence of papules;

- reduce the severity of acne.

This indicates a positive clinical efficacy of systemic probiotics.

After reviewing the dynamics of clinical changes, the analysis of changes in microbiological parameters was continued. It was found that after a comprehensive treatment of acne for 6 months, in a group of patients

where a systemic probiotic was additionally used, the total number of bacteria on undamaged skin areas, the number of coagulase-positive bacteria decreases

, but remains statistically significantly higher than in healthy people.

The materials of this study indicate a violation of the microbial landscape in patients with the comedonal form of the disease; therefore, further research should be focused on evaluating the effectiveness of systemic probiotics in severe forms of acne.
