Laser peeling, or face resurfacing using a laser beam, is one of the safest and at the same time effective procedures, which results in significantly rejuvenated skin. Among the rejuvenating effects that are achieved with a laser, is the removal of age spots, scars and scars, improving complexion, skin structure. Unlike many hardware procedures used for facial rejuvenation, laser peeling is possible even in such delicate areas as lips and periorbital area.

 How laser peeling is performed and what makes it effective

Laser radiation for skin cleansing and rejuvenation is used as a tool that allows you to remove dead cells of the epidermis and at the same time stimulates regenerative processes in the skin. The laser beam acts selectively, depending on the set parameters: the doctor can choose the wavelength, pulse duration and their energy depending on the patient's skin type and the problem being solved. The safety of the facial resurfacing procedure with a laser depends on the correctly selected parameters.

When a laser beam is applied to the skin, the cells of a certain layer are destroyed, absorbing the radiation. Laser peeling can be performed by two types of lasers – erbium and CO2 lasers, they differ in the depth of penetration of radiation into the layers of the skin. Erbium laser works at a minimum depth, has a gentle effect, removing the surface layer of the epidermis. CO2 laser deeply heats the layers of the skin and creates a stronger rejuvenation effect, as it causes collagen fibers to contract and stimulates collagen formation, enhances cell metabolism processes, and tightens the skin.

Positive effects on the skin with laser peeling:

  • prevents the formation of postoperative scars and smoothes already formed scars;
  • smoothes wrinkles;
  • eliminates post-acne scars;
  • Removes freckles and age spots.

The principle of operation of laser peeling is based on the fact that at a depth of up to 20 microns, where the laser penetrates, there are no nerve endings, therefore, with local application of an anesthetic, it is possible to safely resurface the face – instant layer-by-layer evaporation of epidermal cells. The laser does not contact the skin surface, the depth of face resurfacing depends on the number of beam passes over the same area. Deep laser peeling is performed under general anesthesia.

 Contraindications for facial resurfacing  and skin care features

Laser peeling is prohibited if the patient has pustular skin diseases or inflammation, exacerbation of herpes and other infectious diseases. The patient should be asked about his tendency to form keloid scars and hyperpigmentation. You can not do facial resurfacing during pregnancy, if you have a history of diabetes, epilepsy.

The patient should be warned that rehabilitation after laser peeling can take about two weeks. At this time, there may be peeling of the skin, swelling, redness.
