The essence of mechanical peeling and its types
Peeling is a procedure in which the upper keratinized layer of the skin is removed using various cosmetic products. When it comes to mechanical peeling, microparticles of various materials act as such means, which act on the skin through the use of hardware or manual methods.
Due to the action of microparticles, dead cells are exfoliated from the skin layer by layer, thereby stimulating skin renewal, collagen synthesis, and metabolic processes in cells. Mechanical peeling – a well-controlled process, so the doctor can clearly regulate the depth of skin cleaning, the effectiveness of its processing. The procedure of mechanical peeling can be superficial, medium and deep.
Superficial facial cleansing: this is mechanical peeling – brossage, which is carried out with special rotating brushes. For oily skin, it can be done once a week, and for dry skin – no more than once a month. Such peeling well stimulates microcirculation and cleanses the cells of the stratum corneum.
Medium Facial: This is a microdermabrasion in which the top layer of epidermal cells is exfoliated with a stream of aluminum hydroxide microcrystals. For 10 procedures, the skin is not only cleansed, but also noticeably evened out.
Deep facial cleansing: dermabrasion with the help of special disks, which, due to the rapid rotation, remove the stratum corneum to a sufficiently large depth, due to which the skin is leveled and gets rid of fine wrinkles, age spots and scars. Such mechanical peeling requires anesthesia and a significant rehabilitation period.
Some experts refer to mechanical peeling as ultrasonic and vacuum peeling procedures, which, in addition to exfoliating cells, open and clean the pores on the skin, regulate sebum secretion.
Indications for which mechanical peeling is recommended:
- scars after chickenpox, acne, minor burns;
- enlarged pores;
- flabbiness of the skin and fine wrinkles;
- hyperpigmentation;
- preparation for cosmetic procedures involving the application of active creams and serums.
Mechanical peeling should not be performed if the skin has herpetic eruptions or any acute dermatological diseases, if capillary nets are located close under the skin, if there are open wounds or scratches on the skin. The patient should be asked about the degree of skin sensitivity and about taking retinoids – this can also limit the possibilities for facial cleansing by hardware methods. Mechanical peeling - a fairly effective technique that allows you to cleanse the skin well, while choosing the necessary form of facial cleansing, and has a rejuvenating effect.
