Solarium is an easy and affordable way to get the desired tan not only at any time of the year, but also in the shortest possible time. There is no consensus on the harm and benefits of this method of gaining a tan. However, it is obvious that excessive passion for tanning, exceeding the permissible "dosage" of rays and non-compliance with the rules of tanning in a solarium can lead to disastrous consequences - from burns to skin cancer. Therefore, you need to know and follow the rules of tanning in a solarium - and you will be able to minimize the risk of unpleasant consequences after visiting a solarium.
Basic rules for tanning in a tanning bed - safety first
One of the basic rules for tanning in a solarium is to consult a doctor in advance. Only a qualified specialist can determine the presence of contraindications to natural and / or artificial tanning. So, you will have to give up the solarium:
- pregnant;
- breastfeeding mothers;
- if you are taking specific medications (read the instructions for the medications, consult your doctor if necessary);
- people with skin diseases;
- for gynecological diseases;
- for endocrine disorders;
- cancer patients;
- for diseases of the heart and blood vessels;
- for hypersensitivity;
- if there are numerous moles;
- after traumatic skin procedures;
- after sun tanning;
- etc.
If your doctor has not forbidden you to visit the solarium, before the procedure it is necessary to buy tanning creams in the solarium and / or other special products to protect the skin from drying out, burns, etc. Such products are selected individually, based on the characteristics of your skin type and the desired effect.
Besides this, there are other rules for tanning in a solarium, which are no less important for the safety and effectiveness of the procedure:
- Don't overdo it! You need to start with short tanning sessions: 3-7 minutes once a week for no more than 45-60 days. After that, a break of 1 month is required.
- Protect yourself! Vulnerabilities (nipples, moles, pigmentation disorders, wounds) must be covered with a band-aid, a scarf should be tied to the hair or a special cap should be worn (to prevent them from drying out), and the eyes must be protected with special glasses. For lips, use a protective balm.
- Get interested! In particular, we are talking about two points: the novelty of the lamps and the cleanliness of the place for sunbathing. The newer the lamp, the more powerful it is and the less time it takes to tan. If the lamps have not been changed for a long time, you may not get the desired effect, wasting time in the solarium for nothing. An important rule for tanning in a solarium is the cleanliness of the place for tanning. Feel free to check the cleanliness of the solarium (especially the horizontal one) and, if necessary, ask for a clean tanning area.
- Beware! If moisture remains on your body, you should not visit the solarium - this is fraught with burns. To avoid the appearance of age spots and skin irritation, do not use any cosmetics or perfumes in the solarium. Remember: only special products are used in solariums, products for sun tanning are not used.
- Improve the effect! After tanning, the skin will be happy with a shower and a moisturizer. To “fix” your tan, drink juice squeezed from an apricot, carrot, or mango. Do not forget about the special products that are used after tanning in the solarium. These products are usually recommended by a specialist.
In general, thanks to the ability to adjust the power and time according to the characteristics of the skin, tanning beds can be even safer than natural (sun) tanning. However, this is possible only under the condition of steadfast observance of the rules of tanning in the solarium and the recommendations of the attending physician.
