Surely every person at least once in his life had the feeling that the events happening to him at the moment had already happened — situation, circumstances — everything seems painfully familiar, and even every word that sounds at this moment, you seem to know by heart.

Such a phenomenon — the well-known deja vu effect, the mystery of which has been trying to be solved for many years by scientists around the world, but they constantly face difficulties due to the fact that the main feature of the deja vu phenomenon is its suddenness. However, we managed to determine what types of deja vu exist, which you can learn about from the article.

In French, deja vu (déjà vu) literally translates as "already seen". And these are the names of a very good film with Denzel Washington. However, today we will focus on the first phenomenon, or rather – its 6 types. We bring to your attention 6 varieties of deja vu.

1. Deja Veku

Deja to the century (Déjà Vécu, i.e. already experienced) – this is what most people experience when they experience the déjà vu effect. While the deja vu phenomenon – this feeling that you have seen something before, deja vu – it is a state that you have seen this event before, but in more detail, that you recognize the smells and sounds. This is often accompanied by a strong feeling that you know what is going to happen next.

2. Deja visit

Deja visit (Déjà Visité, i.e. already visited) – this is a less common occurrence in which inexplicable knowledge of a new place arises. For example, you may know the route in a new city, despite the fact that you have never been there and know that you could not get this knowledge in any way. Deja visite is about space and geography, while deja veca is about temporal events.

3. Deja senti

Deja Senti (Déjà Senti, i.e. already felt) – it is the manifestation of something that you have already felt. This is a mental phenomenon that rarely remains in the memory. The memory is usually triggered by the sound of another person's voice, voiced thoughts, or reading. Unlike other types of déjà vu, deja senti does not cast a shadow of anything paranormal or unnatural.

4. Jamet vu

Jamais Vu – it is the opposite of déjà vu, which describes a familiar situation that you do not recognize. A person does not recognize the situation, although he knows that he was here before. You may suddenly not recognize another person, word, or place that you know. In one study, researchers asked 92 volunteers to write the word "door" 30 times in 1 minute. As a result, 68 percent of participants experienced jame vu symptoms, meaning they began to doubt that the word "door" was real. This may indicate that james vu is a symptom of brain fatigue.

5. Presquet vu

Presquet vu – it is a feeling "on the tip of the tongue", that is, a strong feeling that you are about to experience an epiphany, although this rarely happens. The sensation of presque vu can be very distracting and intrusive. The person often remembers one or more characteristics of a forgotten word, such as the first letter, but feels a slight anguish when searching for the word and a sense of relief when the word comes to mind.

6. Ladder mind or wit on the stairs

Staircase mind or wit on the stairs (L’esprit de l’Escalier) — this is the state when you find a smart solution or answer when it's too late. It can be a retaliatory attack on an insult, a witty remark that comes to mind when it has already become useless. It's like you're "on the stairs leaving the stage".
