Oils used for Ayurvedic massage

Coconut oil has a cooling effect. Combined with relaxing aromatic essences such as lavender, this massage oil soothes and cools the mind and emotions.

Using sweet orange and geranium oils for Ayurvedic massage, which have a wonderful aroma, it is possible to relax, and basil and rosemary, on the contrary – ideal energy drinks.

You can create your own massage oil by adding 5-10 drops of your favorite aroma oil to 120 ml of base oil. As a base, you can use olive oil, jojoba oil or almond oil.

Ayurvedic oil massage technique

  1. Heat the oil to a temperature that is comfortable for your body. Place the oil in a plastic bottle and heat under running hot water.
  2. Dip your fingers in the warm oil and gently spread it all over your body. Then you need to wait 4-5 minutes until some of the oil is absorbed by the skin. Start doing a full body massage – make massage movements with the palm of your hand and fingers, while trying to evenly distribute the pressure.
  3. When you get to sensitive areas like the heart or abdomen, release the pressure. Particular attention should be paid to places where nerve endings accumulate – palms, feet, lower phalanges of fingers.
  4. When massaging the head and joints, it is better to make circular movements, and when massaging the legs and hands, stroking should be straightforward. After an Ayurvedic oil massage, simply relax for 15 minutes and then take a warm shower or bath.

To feel the effect of Ayurvedic massage, perform this procedure at least 3-4 times a week.
