In order to get rid of the feeling of failure and find the strength to try again, sometimes it's enough just… wash your hands!

An experiment by German psychologists proved that hand washing should not be underestimated, perceiving it only as a hygienic procedure. In a stressful situation, it can be an effective psychotherapeutic procedure.

Scientists from Germany studied the psychological effect of handwashing. During the experiment, whenever the subject failed to successfully complete a task, he was asked to wash his hands. Most of the subjects, after this simple procedure, found restored positive expectations and showed a willingness to try again. Subjects who did not wash their hands refused to retake the test.

Handwashing thus proved to be an act of psychological relaxation for the subjects, helping to relieve stress, fatigue and a sense of failure. We symbolically wash away the burden of our failure – and get ready for a new start.
