The New Year holidays are approaching, which everyone has been waiting for so long. But even the most common cold can spoil the mood these days, because it is impossible to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the holiday when your throat hurts, your nose runs and your head hurts. For the prevention of colds, it is necessary to strengthen the immune system.

Drink yogurt

Due to the contained prebiotics, they are able to maintain the health of the gastrointestinal tract, and also have a detrimental effect on pathogenic microbes. Scientists from the University of Vienna have found that in the case of regular consumption of about 200 g of yogurt, it is possible to achieve a similar effect as in the case of taking medication.

Don't forget the garlic

This product contains the active ingredient allicin, which actively fights infections and bacteria. Experts have noticed a trend in the reduction of cases of infectious diseases among people in the diet of which this product is regularly present. Moreover, those who eat more than six cloves a day are 30% less likely to suffer from colorectal cancer and 50% less likely to suffer from stomach cancer. The optimal dose for the prevention of colds is two cloves.

Eat chicken soup

The anti-inflammatory effect of this dish is explained by the amino acid cysteine contained in it in the optimal amount. Thanks to the soup, you can cope with inflammation in the nose and throat, it helps to thin the sputum and make breathing easier. If the first signs of a cold appear – eat a bowl of chicken soup.

Eat breakfast properly

Oatmeal and pearl barley can also come to the rescue in this case. These cereals contain beta-glucan, whose antimicrobial and antioxidant properties exceed the anti-inflammatory power of echinacea. In view of this, the use of these products helps to successfully strengthen the immune system and even heal wounds. To achieve this effect, it is worth including porridges from oatmeal and barley in the daily menu.

Cook the mushrooms

Mushrooms are also an excellent tool for boosting immunity and preventing colds. Scientists explain this property of mushrooms by the fact that they are able to increase the production and activity of white blood cells. The latter become more aggressive, due to which protection against infections is formed. Experts believe that the most useful mushrooms are shiitake, maikate and reishi. To prevent colds, consume up to 30 g of these products per day.
