All our life we are in the process of learning: from the time of kindergarten, then school, higher educational institutions. It is at this time that the eyes are most often exposed to stress and the chances of falling vision increase, diseases such as myopia or hyperopia, astigmatism occur. The development of myopia is preceded by another disease – spasm of accommodation, which can last for a long time – from several months to a year. And if you do not provide timely assistance to a child or already an adult and do not start treatment, myopia begins to develop.
Spasm of accommodation is also called false myopia, as well as tired eye syndrome. This disease manifests itself as a result of a long overstrain of the eyes, when it is necessary to constantly peer into the distance, and then abruptly change the position of the eyes at a close distance. As it is familiar to every person from a school or student bench. The teacher writes on the board, and the students need to see what is written and follow the instructions. Therefore, when a spasm of accommodation develops in a child, the head and fatigue begin to ache accordingly. To prevent the development of myopia, it is necessary to identify a spasm of accommodation in time and carry out immediate treatment. It is also worth paying attention to preventive methods to maintain the eyes in good condition.
What is accommodation spasm and main symptomsAccommodation is the ability of the eyes to focus on objects far and near. To see an object in the distance through binoculars, or to view it close, we adjust the sharpness. The arranged optical system of the human eye also has such a device that can bring objects closer or further away – this is the ciliary muscle. This muscle moves the lens back or forward to focus the image on the retina.
Imagine if you constantly tense and relax this muscle, will it soon get tired and stop responding to the command to focus? The more the eyes strain to change the focal length, the faster the partial atrophy of the ciliary muscle will develop and the spasm of accommodation begins – the eye will not focus at close range. Among the preventive methods of training the eye muscle is gymnastics for the eyes with spasm of accommodation
- the quality of distance vision drops sharply;
- headaches, in the temples, in the eyes;
- eye gets tired quickly under stress;
- double vision, veil;
- you have to peer for a long time to see the image.
- frequent looking at distant objects;
- close distance is too short;
- blinding light is directed at the eyes, acts as an irritant;
- lack of proper daily routine, not enough rest, constant workload;
- unbalanced nutrition;
- lack or insufficient amount of outdoor walks;
- during neuroses, hysteria, cranial injuries.
Only a qualified ophthalmologist can diagnose this disease, who, after detection, sends for examination to a general practitioner and pediatrician (if the child has a disease). Initially, what can a specialist – It is advised to change the way of life and work. Then glasses are selected to unload the ciliary muscle. Observe the regime of loads and rest: do exercises every 30 minutes. Then, under the supervision of a doctor, exercises are carried out to train the muscle, and it is recommended to perform elementary gymnastics at home.
Exercise for the eyes with spasm of accommodation
At the first symptoms of eye fatigue or when false myopia is already developing, eye gymnastics with accommodation spasm is most effective as a preventive measure. Core Exercises:
- horizontal and vertical eye movements (up-down, right-left);
- eyeball movements in a circle (clockwise or counterclockwise);
- intense blinking: intense contraction and opening of the eyelids;
- move your eyes to the bridge of your nose: to do this, place your finger on the bridge of your nose and look at your finger;
- diagonal eye movements: first direct your eyes to the lower left corner and then up, in the opposite direction.
