Have you ever thought about what sensations in the body can cause different emotions? What does the reflection of anger or love look like? How does the body react when you are offended by someone? Scientists were able to map emotions by identifying areas of the body that are especially active at the time of the manifestation of a particular emotion. Thus, it becomes possible to contemplate the changes that occur when experiencing certain feelings.

Warm colors – zones of high sensitivity, cold – desensitization.

Activity refers to any bodily sensation, be it warmth, tingling, or itching. It should be borne in mind that the heat map of emotions is based on the subjective feelings of the subjects.

An experiment that made it possible to create a heat map of emotions

A group of Finnish researchers led by  Lauri Nimenmaa organized a large-scale experiment in which 700 volunteers from Finland, Sweden and Taiwan took part. The subjects were asked to simply watch different emotional videos, pictures of people with different facial expressions, different stories and films were supposed to touch on certain emotions of a person.

After that, each of the participants in the experiment was asked to indicate on the silhouettes of a person exactly where in the body they felt this or that stimulus, using cold or warm shades.

To create a heat map of human emotions, the scientists combined the participants' responses. Almost all of the person's senses caused activity in the upper chest, perhaps due to the change in breathing and heart rate.

Thus, it was possible to highlight the main responses of the body to certain emotions:

sensations in the throat and abdomen – disgust;

sensation in upper limbs – anger and love;

heaviness in limbs – sadness and anxiety;

sensations in the whole body – happiness.

So, it's safe to say that a person who has everything perfect in life actually glows with happiness and this light is warm and sunny.
