Everyone knows how effective self-control and distribution of tasks by day of the week is, although not everyone uses the planning effect in practice. Planning your time and following the plan every day is no small difficulty. Unforeseen cases, urgent tasks appear, desire changes, and plans can change throughout the day. Personal effectiveness is the achievement of goals and the correct distribution of personal space and time.

Basics of the Pareto Principle

Sociologist, famous economist Vilfredo Pareto formulated a rule, a principle, a law, which consists in the distribution of efforts and the results obtained. Pareto's law says: 20% of efforts give 80% of the result, and the remaining 80% of efforts — only 20% of the result. It is mainly used in management and sociology, but it can be applied to any field of activity, including everyday life.

If we analyze all the actions performed within the framework of the workflow and in household chores, we can understand that most of them do not bring any results or are ineffective. And there are important tasks, deeds and plans, the implementation of which brings the lion's share of success, prosperity, satisfaction, in general – benefit and effectiveness. To achieve lofty goals, do not  it is worth spraying on everything and everything, because the forces are running out, and the result, as it was not, will not be. Not everyone can single out the main thing and perform those 20% of cases that actually give results, but it is worth striving for this.

Personal effectiveness is enhanced by applying the Pareto principle

The Pareto Law is already making a plan for what to do: discard those 80% of unnecessary things and start doing the important tasks that make up 20%. Success and satisfaction comes when personal effectiveness is constantly working, every hour and every day, reaches automaticity in execution. In order to productively allocate time and tasks into important ones and those that can be ruthlessly excluded, it is necessary to analyze what takes a lot of time and does not bring results. Keep a diary, write down everything you do and the results you get. Then cross off the list of ineffective tasks or distribute them over a smaller amount of time if you can not refuse completely.

Analysis: Reading a book, visiting a salon – important activities for mental development and appearance, watching TV  – a useless activity, you can remove it from running or devote several times a week to watching the news. Checking mail or social networks refers to actions that cannot be undone, but you should devote no more than 1 hour a day to this, and preferably in the morning and evening. And think about how much time is left to do other important things.

How to properly allocate your time and resources

You can go from the opposite, and consider cases that can and should be abandoned:

  1. Turn on the TV – this useless box, apart from negativism and violence, rarely conveys anything and teaches something. Therefore, you can choose two outputs: turn on only certain programs that are worth seeing and cannot be seen anywhere else, or not turn on at all, so as not to be tempted.
  2. Subscribing to a large number of mailing lists is good on the one hand, but on the other hand – you have to read  everything, both necessary and not so much. Choose only what you like, what is useful to know, and put everything else in the trash.
  3. Sit down at the computer just like that – this is killing your time, because there will be things to do anyway, and time will pass unnoticed without benefit. Before you turn on the computer, think specifically about what you need to do and start doing it right away.
  4. To do something just because on the road or in company with a friend / girlfriend – is wasting time doing unnecessary things for another person. Plus, there will be a thing that you want to buy, even a trinket, but think: do you need it?
  5. Don't check social media multiple times in an hour. A lot of news, interesting facts, photos are added every minute, but you can’t have time to see everything. Of the 80% of the information that you will receive, only 20% or even less will be useful to you. One of two things: either life will pass sitting at the computer, or devote one hour a day to watching news on social networks, and you will be in time.

Personal effectiveness according to the Pareto method is to build your correct daily routine and your space in such a way that you do less and get more. It's worth learning.
