The future is closer than we think. Every day, specialists shift a certain part of human work to machines. The robots under development are already at various stages. What are they being taught?
Cleaners
Cleaning a house or premises is a rather difficult task. However, imagine that you would have to destroy every single bacterium. It turns out that a robot has already been invented for this. A robot that uses ultraviolet light to eliminate bacteria, mold and other micro-organisms is already in use at a Northern California hospital.
Teacher
It may sound strange, but in a Connecticut school, mentally retarded children find it easier to communicate with humanoid robots than with real teachers.
The NAO robot is only 58 centimeters tall and was specially designed for training. While he is not able to replace teachers, however, as an assistant, he is quite good.
Hospital workers or nurses
Being a nurse is hard. Not only do you need to take care of a large number of patients, nurses often have to move beds, etc. Now the robotic hospital bed can move independently. A bed called EPush bed was presented in one of the hospitals in Singapore.
Seller
OSHbot is a sales bot that helps shoppers find products at the Orchard Supply Store. The robot has a built-in map and GPS store. This helps him accurately determine the location of the goods that the buyer is interested in.
In Japan, Pepper's robot salesman sells coffee.
Hotel concierge
The SaviOne robot, which operates at the Aloft Hotel in California, escorts visitors to their rooms. He is a man of few words, but he can be praised on Twitter, which he himself asks for. Already in 2015, Starwood Hotels, which owns the Aloft hotel, plans to use a whole army of such robots in its hotels.
Actor
Actors may now have additional competition. In Budapest, the REPLEE S1 robot played a role in an unusual production of Franz Kafka's Metamorphoses. True, instead of a beetle, Gregor turns into a robot.
Aircraft pilots
Modern aircraft are already full of automation. The autopilot is also a robot in some sense of the word.
However, developed by South Korea's Institute of Science and Technology, Pibot humanoids have arms, legs, and a head. They are designed to control the aircraft in hazardous situations.
