Usually, the incubation (hidden) period of the disease lasts 10-14 days, sometimes even up to 60 days. The disease begins with chills, severe headache and a sharp rise in temperature to 38-39 degrees. There may be nausea and vomiting, as well as muscle pain.

All mites are arthropods. Like any spider, the tick has 8 legs, as well as a body and a head, which often breaks off when trying to remove the tick on its own. The tick sticks to the blood vessels and through its proboscis can transmit pathogens of dangerous diseases into the blood.

How to avoid tick bites:

1.    For a picnic, it is best to choose coniferous forests that are not inhabited by ticks. In mixed and deciduous areas, it is better to be located in dry glades, lit by the sun, away from swamps, shrubs, tall grass.

2.    Pick up the right clothes for your leisure time. Instead of short shorts, T-shirts, flip-flops and sandals, wear a tracksuit with long legs and sleeves, zippers, high socks, trainers or sneakers, and a hat.

3.    According to statistics, ticks mainly stick in the area, armpits, groin, abdomen, thighs, as well as behind the ears and on the neck. It is these areas that need to be closed especially carefully.

4.    Before you travel, soak your clothes with special anti-tick products, you can also apply a spray or ointment on the body and hands.  If you are going to dip in the water, remember that repellant preparations dissolve in water, so be sure to renew them after swimming, being exposed to rain.

5.    Upon returning home, immediately undress and examine your body, to detect ticks that have not had time to stick to the skin, but have attached themselves to the fabric. Be sure to take a shower, and the clothes in which you were outdoors, shake and wash in hot water. Also, if there were animals with you in nature – Check them for ticks too. Inspect bouquets of wild flowers, in which you can also bring a tick into the house.

If you suddenly managed to protect yourself from a tick bite in nature, immediately consult a doctor to remove it from under your skin. It is not recommended to do this on your own, as you can leave one of the parts of the tick's body under the skin. If necessary, the doctor will inject you with anti-tick immunoglobulin.  If you suddenly removed the insect yourself – wrap it in wet gauze, put it in a jar and take it for examination to exclude the virus.

Note that vaccination will protect you from a terrible disease, but will not protect you from ticks as such, so external security measures remain in force. Spend time in nature safely and with pleasure!
