Jade – it is not only a precious stone, which is considered very durable and beautiful, but also a disease that affects the kidneys – acute nephritis. Why, after a cold, flu, sore throat or other similar illness, doctors recommend donating blood even after recovery. And we often neglect these recommendations. But, it's not worth it. The reason for everything: the possibility of developing kidney nephritis after total hypothermia of the body (especially the legs and lower body). If the lower back hurts, it may not necessarily be a problem with the spine, it is also possible to develop pyelonephritis or another type of acute nephritis (glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis).

What precedes acute nephritis, types of disease

Jade in Greek means "kidney". Acute nephritis affects both kidneys, or rather the glomeruli (glomeruli) or tubules, calyces or pelvis.  Basically, nephritis itself almost does not occur, only after an infectious disease (tonsillitis, scarlet fever, SARS, influenza, bronchitis, pharyngitis). The presence of certain bacteria in the body provokes acute nephritis: streptococcus, staphylococcus, proteus or E. coli.

Common causes of acute nephritis or what diseases precede:

  • Primary acute nephritis begins with renal amyloidosis or diabetes mellitus;
  • secondary nephritis begins after infectious diseases such as influenza, syphilis, malaria, tuberculosis;
  • autoimmune diseases: arthritis, lupus erythematosus;
  • oncological diseases;
  • gynecological problems in women;
  • allergic manifestations;
  • poisoning,
  • alcoholism;
  • multiple myeloma;
  • presence of blood clots.

Also during pregnancy, acute nephritis can often occur, more often pyelonephritis. There is a division of nephritis into the following types: glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, interstitial nephritis, hereditary nephritis (due to the genetic code, begins in children), radiation nephritis. With glomerulonephritis as an autoimmune disease, it is the renal glomeruli that are affected. Pyelonephritis causes damage to the renal tissue and pelvis, often the body temperature rises and urination becomes more frequent. Interstitial nephritis damages the renal tubules, impairing kidney function. Radiation nephritis starts due to radiation dose.

What are the symptoms of kidney disease and diagnosis

The first signs on the way to acute nephritis are constant thirst, decreased urination, severe pain in the lumbar region, loss of appetite, apathy, general weakness, pallor. The mouth is very dry, nausea may occur or a gag reflex, diarrhea. The limbs begin to go numb, swell strongly, the face swells, especially the eyelids. Urination is accompanied by pain and the presence of blood in the urine; in the acute form, the urine may acquire the color of meat slops. Also, a person may suffocate, as there is heart failure due to the accumulation of fluid in the body. The body temperature may rise or fall, the person feels chills and begins to sweat heavily. Doctors, first of all, during the examination, distinguish three main symptoms that say that acute nephritis has begun: edema (legs, arms, face, abdomen), the presence of blood, protein in the urine, increased blood pressure. To find out which type of nephritis prevails, a general blood and urine test, blood biochemistry, and ultrasound of the kidneys are prescribed.

Therapy to cure kidney disease

Acute nephritis may at first go unnoticed, disguise itself as another disease, and only in its peak development may show its symptoms. Treatment of nephritis can take from one month to six months, and chronic nephritis can bother a person for years. With nephritis, the patient should adhere to strict bed rest and diet. The main forbidden foods are salt and liquid. The liquid must be limited initially to 300 ml, followed by an increase to 600 ml (700-800 ml) per day. Drug treatment is also prescribed: antibiotics, antihistamines, antibacterial prescription and diuretics (diuretics).
