От возраста к возрасту: особенности выбора контрацептивов для женщин

At early reproductive age and at forty years, it is necessary to use various contraceptives. But which of them and when to choose, few are aware of this. Еstet-portal.com will help to clarify this issue as much as possible and at the same time concisely.

After all, if an adult woman can easily discuss such a delicate topic with her doctor, then not every young girl will also dare to talk without hesitation about what and how to use as contraceptives. In the article, we will figure out which contraceptives for women are best used depending on age.

Contraceptives for women: how to protect yourself at different ages

If you have crossed the 20-year milestone

Contraception should become your habit. Usually girls are somewhat forgetful in terms of regularly taking new generation contraceptives (for example, pills that require daily intake or once a week). In this case, young women (who have given birth, – editorial note) would be best suited for appropriate contraceptives: implants, intrauterine device, i.e. those that remain in the right place until the need arises to remove them.

Also a nice option – use a special injection: it is done once every three months.
The last three methods – a wonderful alternative even if you do not want to advertise your own intimate life: in any case, a guest in your house will not stumble upon contraceptives lying, for example, on the bedside table or in the first-aid kit.

But if you, for one reason or another, do not have a permanent partner, you need protection from bacteria and viruses that can lead to serious venereal diseases.

The systematic and, moreover, correct use of both male and female condoms – the key to effective resistance to sexual infections.

And yet, caution and a reasonable approach in the latter case is very important, since a 100% guarantee of contraceptive effectiveness is impossible.

If you are 30 or older

If in your immediate plans – creating a family, you should not opt for long-acting contraceptives, in particular, the same implants. If you are on hormonal contraception, stop taking such drugs as soon as possible: your body needs to go through a few normal cycles before you can try to get pregnant.

If you are already breastfeeding – this, contrary to the rather widespread opinion about the alleged naturalness of contraception in this case, is absolutely not a panacea for the possibility of becoming pregnant. And therefore, if you are not going to produce one child after another, you can choose contraceptives for women on progestin tablets or condoms.

If you are over forty

If you no longer plan to have children, you can resort to long-term contraception, permanent, or even consider the option of sterilization: in this case, a tubal ligation procedure is performed (or actions appropriate to this case regarding your partner). However, do not forget that the effectiveness of sterilization does not occur immediately, so some other contraceptive method will still be required for several months after it has been carried out.

And one more thing: if you have any chronic health problems, then contraceptives with estrogen in the composition are not recommended.

In the period of premenopause, the possibility of becoming pregnant is also still not excluded. Therefore, most doctors advise women who have previously taken oral contraceptives to continue doing so as before – before menopause.

This is important, both for birth control and for minimizing unpleasant moments such as hot flashes. Stabilizes this method and the regularity of the menstrual cycle.

Contraceptives for women over 50

If for some reason your relationship with a regular partner has come to naught, and you are entering a "streak" new ones, appropriate protection is still necessary: even if you are sure that you can no longer become pregnant. But no one has canceled sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, the best choice for you – condoms.

Always be confident in yourself and your partner, however, do not forget: as for birth control pills, they should still be prescribed by a specialist in each specific case.
