Have you ever wondered how much you need what you are purchasing. We are used to constantly buying something, but in the end, opening the closet, we understand that much of its contents were not particularly useful to us. When such a desired thing finally ends up in a shopping bag, we are overwhelmed with happiness, but after a while these emotions somehow disappear. In this article, we will talk about minimalism as a lifestyle: why less is more.

Minimalism as a lifestyle: how to change your attitude towards consumption

Minimalism as a lifestyle – it doesn't mean constantly limiting yourself in spending and budgeting. The main goal here is to change your attitude to consumption. So, here are a few examples of why you should reconsider your views on the account of purchases.

1. Less is more

People don't use most of the things they once bought. To confirm this, just look in your closet or pantry. If you get rid of everything that you have not used the last 3 months, all things can fit in one big bag.

2. It is important to evaluate a thing before buying it

We live in an era of aggressive marketing. Things get outdated while you're standing in line for the newest product. When you purchase something, try to estimate when the item will become obsolete and unusable. The new phone will become obsolete in just a year, the computer – after 3-4 years. It is important to determine the boundaries of use and the need for replacement. It is better to buy what you really need.

3. Item is not an investment

Of course, the exception is the purchase of antiques, paintings or expensive wine, but in most cases it is not rational to invest in things that you acquire. When you buy any item, be aware that it is – a loss in the amount of the amount paid for it, and sometimes a permanent expense item. To pay off, it must either create the most comfortable experience when using, or cause an immense feeling of joy when buying.

4. Waiting is always stronger than the joy of buying

Over time, you stop blowing off every speck of dust from a new laptop, and sooner or later clues will appear on a fashionable scarf.

5. Correct evaluation of the effect

For example, the cost of the bike you dream about – 3000 dollars. At the same time, you can pick up a bike a little easier and, for the remaining, say, $ 2,000, attend training camps three times, thereby improving your result. Are you crazy about photography? Of course, you can buy a camera for $ 2,000 and pay the same amount for optics. But the alternative – buy a good camera, and use the rest of the money to go on a trip and hone your skills by shooting picturesque landscapes.

What will make you happier – new shoes or a trip that will cost you about the same?  Naturally, all people are different and we are not trying to impose our point of view on someone, but nevertheless, we advise you to soberly assess the situation and not become a victim of advertising that haunts us at every step, trying to sell us things that are completely unnecessary in reality.

Minimalism as a lifestyle – this is when you try to think less about the color of the dishes and the shade of the new cabinet, leaving room for more useful thoughts and reasoning. It is the right, positive thoughts that will help you find what cannot be bought for any money.
