The gradual decline of reproductive functions can begin in a woman at any age between 46 and 54 years. The menopause, which came into its rights in this time period, refers to normal processes, and a woman should be ready for changes.
But early menopause can come when not expected. How to recognize the signs of the onset of changes in the body, and how to distinguish them from gynecological diseases?
Early menopause: what to look out for
Changes in the body during menopause can be called global. This process, one way or another, involves all systems and organs, which leads to the appearance of a number of symptoms. At early menopause, the following symptoms begin to appear before 40 years of age.
Physical changes
-
Menstrual irregularities. They can have different manifestations: the onset of menstruation earlier or later than usual; too scarce or excessively abundant discharge; spotting between periods.
-
Episodes of urinary incontinence in which tension in the anterior abdominal wall results in "leakage". It is often associated with coughing, laughing, lifting weights.
-
Problems with digestion. Among the most common disorders of the gastrointestinal tract are dyspepsia (a feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, early satiety, heartburn and belching, flatulence) and stool retention.
-
Disorders of the side of the cardiovascular system (palpitations, angina pectoris, increased blood pressure, etc.).
Vegetative manifestations
-
Excessive sweating not due to warm weather or exercise.
-
Bizarons of dizziness.
-
Episodes of "hot flashes" when there is a feeling of heat (more often in the head, neck and upper chest).
Psychic changes
-
Sleep disturbances (difficulty falling asleep, superficial sleep, frequent awakenings).
-
Emotional instability — bouts of tearfulness, irritability, unreasonable aggression.
-
Decreased libido or, conversely, increased sexual desire.
-
Problems with concentration, difficulty memorizing new information.
Important: Early menopause does not necessarily have all of the symptoms listed. They can be observed in various combinations. It depends on the individual characteristics of the organism, the state of health of the woman, the gynecological and
Early menopause: who is at risk
While it is impossible to predict when menopause will begin, certain circumstances can help predict early onset of menopause. The risk group includes women for whom one or more statements are relevant:
- some of close relatives (mother, elder sister, grandmother) started menopause before 45 years;
- has had surgery on the ovaries or uterus in the past;
- there are chronic diseases of the organs of the reproductive system;
- body weight deviates from normal more or less than by 15%;
- diagnosed with metabolic syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, diabetes mellitus;
- long-term use of hormonal drugs.

If even one of the listed factors is present, you should be more responsible for signs indicating a possible early menopause.
But it is less less important to know that some diseases can only mimic menopause and lull your vigilance.
When to see a doctor
Anything that goes beyond the normal manifestations of menopause should alert. These may include frequent bleeding or a small amount of blood between periods, pain during intercourse, engorgement and heaviness in the mammary glands, discomfort or pain in the lower abdomen.
Such symptoms may indicate the development of diseases of the female genital area, as well as complications due to hormonal imbalance. Therefore, it’s not worth waiting when the “time for change” will end and your well-being will be restored. See doctor — a few simple diagnostic manipulations will make sure that nothing threatens your health or start treatment in a timely manner.
