Сказочное заболевание – синдром спящей красавицы

All of us in childhood read a fairy tale, or at least saw a movie, about the Sleeping Beauty, who was bewitched by an evil witch, and woke up by a handsome prince with a kiss. As it turned out, in the real world there is a girl who is in a state of sleep for most of the day. And unfortunately, the handsome prince will not help here, because a kiss cannot wake her up. And we don’t have an evil witch, so there is no one to blame for the appearance of this disease. Estet-portal decided to understand where the girl's Sleeping Beauty syndrome came from and how she lives with it.

It turns out that 20-year-old Beth Goodier suffers from Kleine-Levin Syndrome, also known as Sleeping Beauty Syndrome. The girl sleeps an average of 16 hours a day, and when she wakes up, she cannot distinguish between reality and dream.

For the first time they started talking about it at the end of the 18th century, and at the beginning of the twentieth they began to study it. About 1000 cases of this disease have been registered in the world, 70% of them – in men. But doctors still do not know what leads to the development of such an ailment. And, accordingly, they do not know how to treat it.

Beth herself is unhappy with this state of affairs, because she spends half her life in bed and does not remember anything. Doctors say that when patients return to normal, they may suffer from depression caused by the consequences of such a long sleep.

Patients with Kleine-Levin syndrome experience periods of sleep that can last up to 20 hours a day. These "seizures" can come on fairly quickly and last from a few days to a few weeks. During this time, the patient may be irritable, disoriented, act childish, and eat a lot.

Since there is no cure for such a disease, the only way to care for the sick is the attention and patience of the family. Doctors say that sometimes the disease itself disappears 10-15 years after its onset.

Miss Goodier decided to draw the attention of the medical community to her problem. In addition, she tries to spread the word about Sleeping Beauty Syndrome to as many people as possible. To do this, she even created a specialized group on the social network Facebook. The girl admits that she does not want to waste the time in which she is awake in vain and hopes that her message will help other people suffering from this disease. The editors of Estet-portal wish you only healthy sleep and hope that soon medicine will be able to help these people.

If even suffering from such an illness, a girl works on herself and does not give up, then what is stopping you? The main thing is to correctly set priorities and goals. How to do it, you will learn from this video.
