A modern person, especially office workers, have eyes – practically the most active body. Piles of business papers, endless hours spent in front of a computer screen, evening gatherings in front of the TV or leisure with a book – all this leads to a huge load on the eyes, which, of course, affects vision not in the best way. How to stop the process of visual impairment, is it possible? Experts are sure that a lot depends on us.
Why vision deteriorates: the main causes of the problem
In addition to perhaps the main reason for the weakening of vision – excessive eye strain (by the way, this also includes the harm from getting too bright light on the organs of vision, reading in uneven or insufficient lighting) – the following also exist:
- poor circulation;
- lack of work of the eye muscles, i.e. long-term focusing of the gaze on one object – the text of the book, the image on the computer monitor – which leads to loss of shape, weakness and lethargy of the muscles of the eyes;
- retinal aging;
- dryness of the mucous membrane of the eyes.
What will help strengthen vision: it is easier to prevent than cure
Attention – for meals
However, besides this berry, there are other products that contain substances useful for restoring visual pigment:
- carrot – rich in carotene (it improves vision in the dark);
- fatty fish – favor the normalization of blood circulation in the organs of vision and the strengthening of their muscles;
- rosehip infusion or freshly squeezed citrus juice – play an important role in vision correction due to the high content of vitamin C in these drinks; also do not deprive the attention of greens (it contains vitamins A and C) and add it to your dishes as often as possible;
- spinach, green peas, kiwi, corn, broccoli, etc. foods containing zeaxanthin and lutein – these substances help keep the eyes healthy and prevent the development of cataracts.
In addition, there are special diets that allow you to maintain blood circulation at the proper level.
Proper organization of computer work
As we have already noted, working at a computer is especially harmful to eye health due to strong stress: our organs of vision do not receive training, our gaze does not switch from object to object. Not surprisingly, as a result, myopia rapidly develops. Therefore, working at a computer requires compliance with the following rules:
- The computer should be positioned so that the distance from the eyes to the screen is at least half a meter. At the same time, you need to look at the screen directly or from top to bottom, there should be no other options.
- The lighting in the room should be adjusted to be even. And in the immediate vicinity of the screen itself, there should not be sources of light that hit the eyes sharply.
- It is advisable to use special moisturizing eye drops or tear substitutes to relieve dry mucous membranes.
- Experts also recommend purchasing "computer glasses" (they can be with or without diopters) with special filters. When using such a "saving" for the eyes of the remedy, they get tired much less.
Exercise for the eyes
- Close and then open your eyes wide. Do this 4–5 times at intervals of half a minute.
- Blink rapidly for one minute.
- Without turning your head, look down, up, and then – on both sides. Do the same with your eyes closed.
- Close your eyes, and gently massage your eyelids for about a minute.
- An excellent exercise for the eyes is the following exercise. Hang on a well-lit place in the room (but at a distance of no more than 2 meters from the table at which you usually study) a beautiful photo, picture, or so on. and, periodically interrupting work, look at this subject.
