Scientists have been able to determine the level of satisfaction with the lives of people in 160 countries around the world. In the course of the study, it was determined that how satisfied people are with their lives directly depends on the place of residence and the general economic and social development of the country.

The study was conducted by one of the world's most respected medical publications – Lancet magazine. In the course of the study, the authors of the work had to analyze data from the Gallup World Poll over the past four years, covering the countries of the world where 98% of the world's population lives.

Researchers assessed life satisfaction on three main parameters:

  1. Estimated. How a person evaluates his standard of living.
  2. Hedonic. The moods prevailing in a single social group are assessed – country.
  3. Eudaimonic. Evaluation of the meaning of life of each individual individual by himself.

Given these parameters, the researchers note that the level of happiness in different countries of the world depends on the same thing:

  • general economic development of the country;
  • standard of living and social policy;
  • opportunities to build a career in different industries;
  • health level.

Based on the analysis of the data provided, the scientists were able to determine that residents of English-speaking countries are more satisfied with their lives than others. Their happiness levels peak at ages 15-24 and 65-75. In African countries, this indicator is consistently low throughout life.

It should be noted that in the countries of the post-Soviet space, Eastern Europe, as well as Latin America, there is a fairly similar level of satisfaction with life. Of course, depending on the economic development of each individual country, it fluctuates, but at the same time, a steady decline is shown from younger to older. The least satisfied people in these countries are people over the age of 65.
