Denture – this is one of the most complex biomechanical structures, the function of which – to restore the lost tooth as close as possible. The most important task of a prosthetist is to ensure that the prosthesis not only performs all its intended functions, but also allows the remaining teeth to be preserved for a long time.
The quality of prosthetics depends on the qualifications of the doctor, the dental technician and the equipment of the clinic. The methods and tools that are used in modern prosthetics are constantly being improved. We will give you a small opportunity to learn more about this and rather interesting technology.
Removable dentures
This type of prosthesis remains one of the most popular today, despite the prejudice of most people, and has a large number of advantages and a minimum number of disadvantages. In addition, most people can afford a removable denture.
In our time, prosthetics is at a fairly high level of development, one of the newest technologies – production of prostheses with the plastic injection molding system IVOCAP-SYSTEM. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that special plastic is pressed under constant pressure, temperature (similar to how metal is poured), and not "boiled". These manipulations greatly change the properties of the prosthesis, it becomes more durable, resistant to damage, its aesthetic appearance improves and the risk of allergic reactions is minimized. It is this last circumstance that forces one to "put one's teeth in a glass" at night.
Types of removable dentures
The clasp prosthesis with removable locks is an arc-shaped structure that allows you to use not only gums, but also your own teeth for support. There are clasp prostheses with locks and clasps. In the first case, the mount is very rigid, in fact, motionless. It is hidden inside the prosthesis, so it is not noticeable from the outside that there is a prosthesis in the mouth. In the second case, the retention occurs due to special hooks that tightly cover the tooth and do not harm the enamel, while holding the prosthesis firmly.
A partial denture is used if only one or a few teeth are missing. Material – plastic, metal only hooks. Due to this, it is easy to use, convenient, relatively cheap and labor-intensive, but since it takes up a lot of space in the mouth and rests completely on the gum, its "shelf life" is not so long. However, this type of prosthesis is indispensable in cases of temporary prosthetics.
A complete removable denture is often the only way to replace all lost teeth. It is held in the mouth due to the suction effect, like two pieces of glass moistened with a drop of water. One of the disadvantages is that there is poor retention in the lower jaw and if the patient is faced with this problem, the only option – prosthetics on implants.
A full lamellar denture is often the last chance to replace all missing teeth. Even if you do not have a single tooth in the upper jaw, this does not matter at all! The upper palate is quite hard, wide, immobile and is an excellent valve zone. on the lower jaw, the support area is very small, due to the large number of movable and elastic bands, mucosal folds, and frenulums. Therefore, the patient receives a "floating" prosthesis on the lower jaw, which will not sit tightly. In principle, a person can get used to everything, but this pleasure is below average and you should not agree to it.
Therefore, the most important advice - is to try to save the teeth of the lower jaw to the last, even if there is the slightest doubt, decide them in favor of the tooth, and not the removal. As long as you have at least one or two teeth in your lower jaw, you have a chance to chew something with pleasure! This is not at all a desire to scare people who already have "nothing to lose", it will just take you much longer to get used to a "floating" prosthesis.
