Plumpness lips is traditionally considered a sign of beauty and youth, so one of the most frequently requested procedures is lip augmentation. To achieve the most natural results, it is necessary to work with the entire perioral zone. So says Dr. Gabriel Siquer.
The border of the red border, filtrum columns, three tubercles (protrusions) of the upper and two – lower lip, Cupid's arch, folds in the corners of the mouth, nasolabial, labio-chin and chin folds, wrinkles in the upper lip – all these features, according to the doctor, must be taken into account when performing lip correction. You should also pay attention to the presence of asymmetries, the location of the teeth, the upper and lower jaw.
It is important to assess the perioral zone both at rest and during mimic activity – this way the practitioner will be able to detect muscle hyperactivity and correct it with botulinum toxin injections.

Lip ratio – the most important aspect when performing augmentation
The lower lip should always be slightly larger than the upper – such proportions are the most natural; it is believed that the ideal ratio of the height of the upper and lower lips – 1:1,6.

Despite this, it is important to remember that lip augmentation is always performed on an individual basis for each patient. There are a number of approaches, the application of which is based on the age, gender and ethnic characteristics of the patient. So, as a result of aging, changes in the proportions of various parts of the lips are observed. In addition to volume loss, age-related deformations lead to elongation of the skin of the upper lip and flattening of the filtrum columns.

Techniques of choice and preparations for lip augmentation
For safety reasons, the author recommends using hyaluronic acid gels as a filler, since the results of lip correction with such products are reversible. Despite this, care must be taken to avoid intravascular injections of the drug and overcorrection.
Safely injecting fillers: how to prevent possible complications
1. The body of the lip and wrinkles in the region of the upper lip
The drug of choice of the author for these indications is Aliaxin® Fine Lines & Lips (FL) because it is characterized by high cohesiveness and rheological properties, which contribute to better integration of the gel into tissues. With the superficial administration of these preparations, an excellent hydration effect and a natural increase in lip volume can be obtained.
2. Upper lip
The upper lip is divided into three parts: injections into the lateral thirds are performed with a 30-gauge needle placed laterally, through the body of the lip and up to the lateral prominence. Then the product is introduced using the linear retrograde technique – approximately 0.2 ml of filler per third of the upper lip. In the middle third, to emphasize the arch of Cupid and the central tubercle, two 0.05-0.1 ml boluses of the drug are injected.
3. Lower lip
The medial line divides the lower lip into two parts, into which the filler is injected laterally through the body of the lip and up to its protrusions. To correct the lower lip, a linear retrograde injection technique is used, the amount of product injected is 0.25-0.3 ml for each half of the lip. If the patient wishes to add a significant amount of volume, a 27 gauge needle (also in the linear retrograde technique) may be used to administer Aliaxin®; Global Performance (GP).
The border of the red border, filtrum columns, three tubercles (protrusions) of the upper and two – lower lip, Cupid's arch, folds in the corners of the mouth, nasolabial, labio-chin and chin folds, wrinkles in the upper lip – All these features must be taken into account when performing lip correction.
4. Wrinkles in the area of the upper lip
To smooth wrinkles in the area of the upper lip, the author injects Aliaxin®; FL in blanching technique.
The features of this technique are:
• position of the needle at an angle of 10 degrees to the surface of the skin;
• multiple injections of small amounts of filler directly under the epidermis.
After the filler is injected, a light massage of the treated area is performed in order to evenly distribute the drug.
5. Nasolabial and labiomental folds
Using a 25-gauge cannula in a retrograde fan technique, the author injects Aliaxin® filler; GP, which is characterized by excellent behavior during mimic movements and has a good volumizing ability. For one procedure, 1-2 ml of the product is injected into the target area.
Lip augmentation: how to achieve ideal proportions and a rejuvenating effect
Following the recommendations described by Dr. Sikye, you can get a pronounced, but with This is the natural result of lip augmentation. Comprehensive assessment of the perioral zone, as well as the use of an individual approach when working with patients, will help the practitioner to obtain the most harmonious and attractive correction results.
