What gestures help earn the respect of others and demonstrate calmness and confidence? Jeanine Driver, an expert in body language, discovered 6 secrets of gestures that the most successful people use to create an image.

1. Support your chin

We often observe this gesture among the powerful of this world. It can be seen on the posters of Hillary Clinton.  Another example – Steve Jobs on the cover of his biography. This is the pose of a thinker, a gesture that says: "When hard times come, I will come with the right solution!"

2. Don't purse your lips

By biting and pursing your lips, you show your interlocutor your own insincerity, as if you are hiding something behind your back. Often people do this when they are telling a lie or trying to hide an emotion that is painful for them to share. Such a mimic movement causes distrust among others.

3. Fold your fingers into a "pyramid"

Touch the fingertips of one hand to the pads of the fingers of the other hand, folding your palms into a "pyramid". This gesture demonstrates competence and power. It is often used by Oprah Winfrey and Donald Trump.  Barack Obama has a modified version of this gesture, as if he is holding an invisible basketball, and his gesture is more of sympathy.

4. Watch your head tilt

Never communicate important information with your head tilted to the side – people think that you yourself do not believe in what you say. If you are not proclaiming something important, but just talking, you can tilt your head, but keep in mind the importance of direction. By tilting your head to the right, you look more attractive. And when you tilt your head to the left – smarter.

5. Cross your arms over your chest

You've already heard that crossing your arms makes you look more reserved. This is true, but only if the person communicating with you does not know you. And if you are among friends – cross for health!  This will help to understand the problem, since such an action involves both sides of your body, which means – activates work on the task of the logical left and creative right hemispheres of the brain. Research suggests that crossing your arms increases your chances of successfully solving complex problems.

6. Don't wrinkle your nose

Wrinkling of the nose even when laughing – it is a universal expression of disgust, which is unconsciously perceived by others as rejection. A woman with such a facial habit is unlikely to be able to pull a man out on a second date. After all, a man will not believe her words that she likes him, and will not even understand the reason for his negative feelings. It is worth tracking this movement in your facial expressions and getting rid of it, and people will feel your disposition. This is the magical power of body language.
