Gifts under the tree, tangerines and Olivier on the table and "Irony of Fate" on TV. Often it is films that allow us to fully immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the New Year. That is why our editors decided to rank the most beloved New Year and Christmas films.
Snow Angel (2007)
The tenth place in our rating is taken by the romantic comedy "Snow Angel". The story tells about a girl who every year left her native Moscow for St. Petersburg, only to avoid celebrating the New Year with girlfriends trying to marry her off. But this year she decided to change her principles and not leave the city. What happened to her next, you can find out by watching this wonderful film.
Poor Sasha (1997)
The ninth place is occupied by the family comedy with detective elements "Poor Sasha". The daughter of an influential banker decides to rob her mother's bank so that she has more time for her. How she will do it, and who will help her, you will find out only after watching the film. Great mood guaranteed.
Morozko (1964)
Eighth place went to the wonderful Soviet film-fairy tale "Morozko". The story of the girl Nastenka and Ivanushka turned into a bear is familiar to us from childhood and evokes a sea of positive emotions. And for those who have not seen this fairy tale, we can only say one thing – look immediately. After all, such genuine and sparkling emotions can only be obtained from watching such films – with great performances by famous actors and lovely humorous scenes.
Tariff "New Year's" (2008)
Fantastically romantic story "New Year's Tariff" takes seventh place. This is a film about the connection between people, which, thanks to the New Year's Miracle, crosses the boundaries of time. This movie immerses you in the best possible way into the holiday atmosphere and gives you the feeling that miracles are possible .
Carnival Night (1956)
Another well-known Soviet film "Carnival Night" takes sixth place in our rating. The film, which became a legend and brought popularity to Lyudmila Gurchenko, still pleases with its openness and a sense of festive freedom. Well, the song about five minutes is still performed on all New Year holidays.
Elki (all parts) (2010-2013)
We decided to put three films from the "Christmas Tree" series in the fifth place at once. Of course, each of them shows different stories, but all these stories are united by the same heroes. They all get into different funny situations, and if in the first film some of them just met, then by the third part they were already friends. Many ups and downs and constantly intertwining stories make you empathize with all the characters at once, and the time in which this all happens plunges you into the New Year mood.
Evenings on a farm near Dikanka (1961)
The fourth place is probably the best adaptation of the great Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol's story "Evenings on a farm near Dikanka". It is best to watch it before Christmas, as the events of the film unfold exactly at this time. And even if there is no snow outside the window, and carolers do not knock on your door, you can still feel the whole atmosphere of this holiday.
What else do men talk about (2011)
The second part of the story, about four cheerful friends, is the third in our ranking. "What else do men talk about" – a film about friends who cannot fully believe that they are no longer so young, even though they are still 20-year-old stunners at heart. Of course, the action of the film takes place on December 31, and they just can’t just celebrate the New Year calmly. A wonderful game of actors of all plans and unbridled humor will help to postpone all the chores for a while and enjoy the holiday from the heart.
Wizards (1982)
The second place is deservedly given to the "Magicians". And although this film did not become a table for absolutely everyone, it is unusually beautiful. It is simply saturated with miracles and humor. The main thing that can and should be absorbed from this film – is faith in miracles. I believe that this world is full of miracles, and we can observe them every day if we only open our hearts. Well, the game of the great actors of Soviet cinema and the script written by the Strugatsky brothers leaves us no chance not to review it again this year.
Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath! (1975)
And, finally, the first place is occupied by "Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!". In fact, as Eldar Ryazanov himself admitted, he did not expect this film to become a cult film for several generations of people. This film is shown on New Year's Eve on all channels, and quotes from it have long been in the everyday life of people. What is the secret of this film? Yes, in general, it is not. Now, on the threshold of 2015, we cannot answer this question exactly, but we know for sure that this year Andrey Myagkov will again end up in a wrong apartment, Barbara Brylska will go to Moscow with a broom from the bathhouse, and Yuri Yakovlev will again stand under the shower in a coat.
