Hypoallergenic diet performs two functions at once – medical and diagnostic. When a person suffering from a food allergy begins to gradually eliminate highly allergenic foods from their habitual diet, it will be possible to determine which food causes an allergic reaction.

In order for the menu of a hypoallergenic diet to be truly well-composed, allergen foods should be completely excluded from your diet. By the way, foods can be allergens both to a high and medium degree, the former should not be consumed at all, and the consumption of the latter should be tried to be limited to the maximum extent.

Before you start following a hypoallergenic diet, be sure to consult your doctor and go through special tests, which foods provoke the occurrence of an allergic reaction.
Products that are highly allergenic
If you have a food allergy, you should absolutely not eat certain types of foods, as there is a high probability of allergic reactions.

The following products should be avoided:
- chicken eggs, cow's milk;
- seafood;
- preservation;
- smoked meats;
- red vegetables – tomatoes, beets, bell peppers, carrots. You should also refuse to consume celery, sorrel;
- fruits of red or orange color – strawberries, red apples, currants, cherries, persimmons, melons, pineapples, citrus fruits;
- honey, nuts, mushrooms;
- confectionery with chocolate, caramel or marmalade;
- coffee, cocoa, spirits, colored sparkling water.
With regard to foods that are moderately allergenic, you should limit the consumption of fatty pork, rabbit, duck and turkey. Be careful with buckwheat and corn, as well as cereals.

Orange-colored vegetables and fruits can also cause an allergic reaction, so legumes, potatoes, peas, apricots, bananas, peaches are on the list of allergenic foods.
There is a list of hypoallergenic products that are not capable of harming a person suffering from food allergies.
Hypoallergenic diet: foods that can be used for food allergies
- Boiled beef or chicken. Lean parts of pork and certain types of lean fish are also allowed;
- Sour-milk products, ideally – homemade cottage cheese, fermented baked milk and low-fat kefir;
- Rice, oatmeal or millet porridge. Barley, semolina and oatmeal will also not harm. With food allergies, you can eat rice, corn and buckwheat bread;
- With a hypoallergenic diet, homemade cereal and vegetable vegetarian soups are allowed. The consumption of butter, olive and sunflower oil is allowed;
- Fruits, berries and green-colored vegetables: lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, parsley, dill, turnips, pears, apples, white cherries and currants;
- In case of food allergies, the following drinks are allowed: tea, mineral water without gas, apple and pear compotes, rosehip broth.
Remember that the duration of a hypoallergenic diet should not exceed two to three weeks for adults and seven to eight days if a child has a food allergy.
When the condition improves, one allergen product can be gradually introduced into the diet, thanks to which it is possible to follow the body's reaction to a particular food. At the same time, the interval between the introduction of new products should be three days.
