EMS фитнес: за и против новомодных тренировок

Have you heard about the newfangled EMS workouts? Many call them the fitness of the future and consider them a panacea for a good figure against a sedentary lifestyle with minimal time.
EMS fitness has opponents who believe that such tricks are against human nature (replace 20-minute workout at lunchtime with 3 hours of classes in the gym) will not lead to anything good.
Whom to listen to? Should I try EMS fitness? To whom such training is contraindicated? Read about all this in the article estet-portal.com.

EMS Fitness – for and against

EMS stands for Electrical Muscle Stimulation. That is, the devices attached to the skin send special impulses through its surface through the electrodes, which lead to additional muscle contraction, as in strength training.

However, don't confuse EMS workouts with "butterfly machines" that were trendy among teleshopping customers some 10-15 years ago. Then people naively believed that you could lie on the sofa with a plate of fried potatoes, attach such a "super butterfly" to your stomach. and build cubes on the stomach without worries.

Now there is a general fashion for a healthy lifestyle, so people have wised up and realized that fabulous electrical impulses work only if a person works with them.

By the way, in fairness it should be noted that scientists realized the benefits of electrical signals to the muscles long before the advent of teleshopping and "butterflies". Back in the 1960s, Soviet scientists used these impulses to rehabilitate cosmonauts, whose muscles are known to atrophy quickly in zero gravity. Very soon, their experience was adopted by German doctors, who began to restore the muscles of athletes with such physiotherapy.
What is the essence of EMS training? In normal strength training, muscles contract and then grow during the recovery period. Microimpulses increase the strength and intensity of muscle contractions during sports activities, that is, the benefits of training increase many times over.

It looks like this: a person is put on a special light suit with connected electrodes (don't be afraid, it won't shock you!). Then, as usual, there is a warm-up and main training.

The training lasts only 20-30 minutes, as it is simply extremely difficult to endure longer – electrical impulses from all sides act on the body, as if squeezing it, so that even ordinary exercises become very difficult, at the limit of the pulse.

Each workout is usually completed with a machine lymphatic drainage massage, which can be considered the most enjoyable part of the class.

EMS fitness benefits:
- It is really realistic to lose as many calories in half an hour of training as with a few hours of training in the gym under normal conditions.
- The power of impulses in different parts of the body is regulated by an experienced a coach who decides which of the client's problem areas is better to work out more intensively. Under normal conditions, it will be extremely difficult to pump some of these muscles.
- You can forget about the excuses that you don’t have enough time to visit the gym and full-fledged workouts due to a busy work schedule – everyone will be able to find half an hour a day.
- You will be able to gain not only a sculpted, toned figure, but also increase strength and endurance, lose weight, strengthen muscles and speed up metabolism.

Disadvantages of EMS fitness:

- Quite high cost of training (compared to a regular visit to the gym).- Individual discomfort (not everyone will like training in a tight wet suit and the process itself electrical stimulation).
- If you think that this is training for the lazy, you will be deeply disappointed (not everyone has enough endurance and strength to perform even elementary exercises in a suit).

Due to the fact that EMS workouts are quite heavy on the body, they have their own contraindications.

You can't do EMS fitness in the following cases:

- Cardiac diseases or a pacemaker installed.- Vascular problems.
- High or low blood pressure.
- Pregnancy.

In any case, it is better to consult with your doctor before starting classes, who may prescribe a preliminary examination.

If you're physically ill-prepared, then perhaps you should start with something simpler – for example,

basic set of exercises

for a beautiful figure.  Good luck with your studies!
