Как привлечь клиентов мужского пола в салон красоты

Look good – it is pleasant, fashionable and prestigious. Why, in most cases, a spa for men – is it taboo? Since ancient times, beauty salons – female estate. A heterosexual man may feel out of place, appearing where everything is reserved for women. It's not just about homophobia and the fear of being "not masculine enough".  We interviewed men and tried to figure out what lies behind male cosmetic phobias.

What is a spa for men: causes of male cosmetic phobias

1. It is as if there is no place for him in a strange female kingdom.

TIP. Help a man feel like a full client of your salon. Place men's editions on the coffee table. Put on the shelves of creams and serums the men's lines offered by each cosmetic brand, let them feel that this spa is just as suitable for men as it is for women.

2. Fear of being "alone in the field".

No matter how much a man dreams of being without competitors, surrounded only by representatives of the beautiful half of humanity, he needs to realize that there are men in this universe besides him. Otherwise, from the excess of estrogen in the air, he will feel dizzy.

TIP. If several men visit your salon, offer them simultaneous appointments for different procedures or make appointments sequentially – man after man, so that each of them feels the support of a "brother in mind." If a man – the only one, the administrator should in between times remind the doctor about "Ivan Ivanovich, recorded today at 3 o'clock" - and the psychological comfort of the patient will be restored.

3. Fear of the name «anti-age».

Men rarely mention old age. And not because they don't care. Negative – this is a very popular psychological defense mechanism in such cases. Having abandoned this mechanism, a man who dared not only to admit that aging has affected him, but to make it public, having come to the procedure to a beautician, feels doubly vulnerable.

TIP. Avoid the words "anti-age" in the name of procedures for men. Call them detox or relaxation care. Let the doctor very delicately tell you about the anti-aging effect of the procedures during the consultation when recommending this procedure.

4. Fear of being touched by a male massage therapist.

This hardly needs any comment. From the point of view of psychoanalysis, homophobia speaks of a propensity for homosexuality repressed into the unconscious. But the deep features of the client's psyche – none of our business. We will respect his wishes.

TIP. Invite the client to choose the gender of the massage therapist in advance, or if the only massage therapist in your salon – man, be sure to inform the client of this, mentioning the high professionalism of the massage therapist, his education and experience in dry sterile terms.

5. Fear of looking ridiculous.

Men often feel uncomfortable putting on a disposable cap in the beautician's office. Most likely, this is not due to physical discomfort, but to the unwillingness to look unmanly in the "lady's cap".

TIP. Let the doctor put on the cap when the patient is already lying on the couch and cannot see his own reflection. Do not give the patient a speculum without first removing the cap after the procedure is completed.

6. Fear of wearing disposable underwear that does not cover the genitals well.

Exhibitionism is of a passive nature and is more characteristic of women than men. The representative of the stronger sex feels insecure more sharply when naked. Thoughts about whether everything is covered up do not give a man the opportunity to fully relax, taking salon treatments for the body.

TIP. Let the administrator demonstrate the underwear in advance when registering for the procedure. In case of dissatisfaction of the client, you can always offer him to bring his own swimming trunks for the procedure.

Proper care of your appearance – not only a women's prerogative, so a men's spa should by no means be off limits.
