One of 600 worldwide cases of a rare disease of muscles and joints was found in a 14-year-old girl from China. The girl was diagnosed with FOP, that is, ossifying progressive fibrodysplasia.

This disease is characterized by the fact that all the soft connective tissues of the body gradually turn to stone. Only 600 cases of this disease have been noted in the world.

Throughout life, muscles, cartilage and joints gradually become ossified, making up the second skeleton in the body. But given the fact that at the moment there are no funds for the treatment of this disease, all its cases are fatal. Most often, a person dies from respiratory arrest. After all, the cartilage between the ribs also turns to stone, and a person simply cannot breathe.

Everyone developed this disease in different ways. For example, FOP was discovered in Harry Eastlack at the age of ten, and by the age of forty, only the lips remained mobile in a man. He bequeathed his body to scientists so that they could develop a cure for this disease. Such people need to beware of damage, since the body replaces any tissue damage with a bone formation.
