Some people are embarrassed to admit that they are periodically visited by sexual fantasies, others do not consider this phenomenon to be something shameful. Scientists divide sexual fantasies into “anomalous” and “ordinary”. In the course of the study, it was possible to find out which sexual fantasies are visited by many, and which can be classified as rare.
Psychologists from two academic institutions within the University of Montreal conducted a study whose main goal was to find out which erotic fantasies are the most common, and which – rare.
Sexual Fantasy Online Survey
Researchers created an online survey of 799 men and 718 women from Quebec. The average age of the survey participants was 30 years. The majority of respondents, namely 86.1% of the respondents, identified themselves as heterosexuals, the rest of the subjects were homosexuals and bisexuals.
Research participants were asked to rate, on a 7-point scale, 55 statements that were constructed according to the scheme "I happened to fantasize about" hellip; ". The authors managed to select the top most common erotic fantasies.
Top male and female sexual fantasies
The most common sexual fantasy women have is sex in an unusual place, with sex with a stranger and group sex coming in second and third place.
The most popular sexual fantasies of men were anal sex in the host role, oral sex in the host role and fantasies of an unusual place for lovemaking.
Group sex for both sexes was in fourth place. Also, a fairly common sexual fantasy of women and men is the use of force in bed, only women prefer to take the role of a subordinate, and men want to dominate.
Atypical sexual fantasies
Researchers classified as atypical such sexual fantasies that were attended by less than 15% of the respondents. Among them – sex with a prostitute, humiliation of a partner who is under the influence of psychoactive substances, urination on a partner, and cross-dressing sex.
Fortunately, the last positions among the sexual fantasies of men and women are sex with a young child and sex with an animal.
An interesting difference between female fantasies and male ones is that female erotic dream heroes are their partners, while males are presented with scenes involving celebrities or acquaintances. In addition, the representatives of the stronger sex are not at all averse to turning their fantasies into reality, while women are able to distinguish between fictional and real, trying not to confuse these concepts.
