Regardless of whether you have a first tattoo or you already have some of them on your body, in any case, this event cannot be treated as follows: made (a) and forgot (a). On the contrary, it should be borne in mind that tattoo care should vary according to the time of year. Our portal will share recommendations on the features of tattoo care in the summer.
It is during this period that it is defenseless under the influence of UV radiation, since a significant part of our body remains open, and the exquisite "painting" few people prefer to hide under their clothes.
Tattoo care in summer: how to do it right
Do you have a new tattoo or have you already "grown together" with it, however, the pigments lose their brightness over time, the paint fades, the image becomes less attractive.
By the way, you should pay attention to the fact that it is extremely undesirable to get tattoos in the summer, since dusty and dirty air can cause serious irritation.
But if you still got a tattoo in the summer, while healing is in progress, adhere to the following rules.
Reduce the intensity of work and mechanical stress
Tattoos are hard to heal. Try to avoid vigorous activity that provokes heavy sweating for at least 10 days after the end of the session. Also, do not wear tight clothes during this period, because in this way you can rub the already inflamed skin. And what absolutely should not be done – rubbing the area with a tattoo on the body with a washcloth: this can cause microtrauma.
Minimize swimming in bodies of water
This also applies to long baths and long showers. The tattooed image on your skin is basically an open wound with ink injected into it. And, for example, in pools, water is certainly chlorinated or contains other disinfectants, while natural reservoirs abound with dirt and bacteria. Infection, once in the wound, can lead to an inflammatory process, suppuration. In turn, the sea poses a danger to tattoos due to its high salinity.
Less frustratingly, when bathing, ink is released from the tattooed area of the skin, and then the design is in danger of fading. In any case, underwear "painting" deformed under the influence of the external environment and therefore it is important to take care to minimize this impact. Among other things, you should not steam the skin: under the ban bath, sauna, hot baths. In these cases, hot water is also not the best ally for your tattoo.
UV protection
Under the influence of direct sunlight, the tattoo becomes dull, "fades". Therefore, treat your underbody drawing with a cream with a high degree of sun protection (we recommend applying the product every 2 hours): this measure is especially important if you go to the beach or will be in a place where you cannot hide from the activity of the luminary for a long time. Thus, you will protect your tattoo from fading (when black paint under the intense influence of the sun "turns" into a gray-blue).
Tattoo artists are unanimous in that it is not advisable to acquire a new pattern on the body before relaxing on the sea. The tattoo must heal, and for this it takes about three months, so as not to "disturb" its active wetting in salt water and treatment with sunscreen. So, under no circumstances should the cream be applied to a fresh tattoo: while the healing process is in progress, it is considered incomplete. It is during this period that caring for your new wearable image is very important, because this time is decisive in whether the drawing will last for a long time or, having lost pigment, will fade in a short time.
Special attention should be paid to the care of the tattoo only for the first 2–3 months after application, then its treatment should be just regular.
If you haven't followed any rules and your tattoo has faded over the summer, don't be discouraged. This annoyance is fixable. Today, much is possible: you will certainly restore the brightness of the image, for this, contact the master. But after the "restoration" get ready to take care of the tattoo again, especially in the summertime with its accompanying natural "attributes".
