Weekend – the time when we enjoy a break from everyday work, so why not give the body a rest and cleanse it of the toxins accumulated over the week? The practice of detoxifying the body has been around for centuries. Hippocrates recommended fasting to improve health, and religious people observe fasts to purify their spirit.
Most of today's detox diets, especially those that involve fasting or eating extremely low calories, deprive the body of important nutrients while fasting, resulting in slower rather than faster metabolism. Other side effects of such detox diets include dehydration, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and even intestinal problems.
Detoxification system of the body
Remember that the body has its own internal detoxification system, it includes the following organs:
- Liver – The body's first line of defense against toxins, which acts as a filter to keep toxic substances from entering the bloodstream.
- Intestines – it contains bacteria that produce beneficial and harmful chemicals. The intestines must function properly because it plays an important role in flushing out toxic chemicals before they can harm the body.
- Kidneys – they are like clockwork, constantly filtering the blood and removing toxins from the body in the form of urine.
For a detox diet to really work, you need to support these organs by providing your body with the nutrients it needs. The 48 Hour Weekend Cleanse Diet below contains these substances.

For the best effect of a 48-hour weekend cleanse:
- do not eat after 7 pm;
- take an Epsom salt bath to help detoxify and relax your muscles;
- dandelion root tea: before bed, drink a cup of dandelion root tea – it will help the liver remove toxins from the body.
Remember that the body's detoxification system must always function properly so that you do not have to worry about toxins and waste. Try to eat right every day, and when choosing a detox diet, try not to forget that it should not be too hard so that your body receives the necessary amount of nutrients.
