Аутологичные ткани в эстетической медицине: панацея или реальная опасность

Aesthetic medicine professionals are looking for ways to improve the effectiveness of beauty treatments. Autologous fabrics are being used more and more for this, as they are considered safer and more natural.

The surgeon, a member of the German Society of Surgeons, the Society of Mesotherapy, the European Academy of Aesthetic Surgery and the International Society of Aesthetic Medicine, the author of scientific articles on volumetric facial modeling, shared his opinion on the use of autologous plasma, adipose tissue and stem cells with readers of estet-portal.com Wolfgang Radish-Svoboda (Germany).

What do you think about the use of autologous tissues in aesthetic medicine

B. RS: I think that the products that are on the market today are microfat, autologous plasma, and growth factor – it is an unexplored field, a "black box". Since even scientists do not fully know what their use in the future may be fraught with.

The popularity of autologous material is constantly growing, and moreover, I think that soon we will be able to minimize the possible risks of its use, and use it to the maximum benefit.

Also, I think progress will also affect hyaluronic acid. More natural forms will be used. If now we are working with short, medium, long chains of hyaluronic acid, its high and low molecular weight forms – then in the future it will all be optimized.

Cosmetology of the present and future: the use of stem cells

Will the use of autologous material be relevant in the future

B. RS: The use of autologous material will only grow in popularity, including stem cells, platelet-rich plasma and adipose tissue.

However, the problem is that some doctors in aesthetic medicine, especially in countries where this issue is not regulated, are starting to use stem cells right now, without having an evidence base at hand.

I think at this stage they should only be used in limited cases, such as tetra- or paraplegia after some serious injury. Of course, the results that we see on experimental animals are amazing, but such experiments are prohibited on humans. Stem cells are omnipotent, which means they have many functions, and possibly the prevention of aging – one of them.

But, for now, their use should be limited, and only available for research.

Why stem cell use should be limited at this stage

B. RS: The main problem of aesthetic medicine is that beauty procedures – it is not a vital necessity. Therefore, we must, first of all, make sure that the use of stem cells is safe, and only then use them in the beauty industry.  Of course, there are patients for whom stem cells – This is an opportunity to heal, to return to normal life. And in this case, it makes sense to take a certain risk.

We must first thoroughly study the properties of stem cells, and only then use them for rejuvenation.

Use stem cells "for fun" – it's a big experiment, and I'm not sure this is how a real doctor should do it. First research, and then practical application, but not vice versa.
