A new CT scanner was presented in Volyn

Thanks to modern equipment, it is possible to perform more effective diagnostics and treatment of the patient. Special responsibility falls on the shoulders of doctors who are involved in the examination and treatment of children. Now the work of the specialists of the medical institution involved in the organization of specialized care for newborns will become more efficient thanks to the new equipment.

Volyn Regional Children's Territorial Medical Association solemnly opened a diagnostic room along with a presentation of a new CT scanner. Unlike conventional radiography, using a CT scanner, it is possible to obtain an image of a certain transverse layer (slice) of the human body.

The opening of the office was due to the cooperation of the local administration and project investors who deal with medical equipment in European countries and open their own branches in Ukraine. The investment amount is UAH 10,000,000, and the new Siemens Somatom Emotion 16 CT scanner costs about EUR 300,000.

From now on, thanks to a modern 16-slice CT scanner, it is possible to obtain high-quality two- and three-dimensional images, while minimizing patient exposure. Unlike conventional radiography, using a CT scanner, it is possible to obtain an image of a certain transverse layer (slice) of the human body. At the same time, the radiation exposure is much lower than with a conventional X-ray examination. Now the specialists of the institution are developing optimal methods for examining newborns and young children.

Head of the health department of the regional state administration Igor Vashchenyuk noted that according to social packages of services, 30 patients per month will be examined free of charge.

One of the most important priorities in the work of the institution is the organization of specialized care for newborns, which is carried out on 55 beds of the neonatology center and 15 beds of anesthesiology for newborns and premature babies. More than 1000 patients are treated here during the year; 60 percent of seriously ill newborns from all maternity hospitals in the region are delivered to the neonatology center within the first day from birth.

In the conditions of the center, surgical interventions are carried out for sick children, including those with complex congenital malformations (more than 50 newborns are operated on annually).
