If you go overboard with alcohol in the evening, in the morning a person will experience the most unpleasant consequences – headache, nausea, general malaise and remorse. However, the state of a hangover –  is just a mild consequence of alcohol intoxication. In the event of serious alcohol poisoning, a person is in serious danger. Therefore, everyone should know what to do in case of alcohol poisoning, how to properly help the victim and, of course, prevent alcohol poisoning.

During the New Year holidays, the risk of alcohol poisoning increases significantly. How to avoid it and what to do if a person becomes ill at the height of the holiday?

Let's start by preventing the problem. Everything is extremely simple here: you need to know the measure, do not drink on an empty stomach. You must also remember to have a snack after toasts and drink quality drinks.

Of course, in our time, quality food and drinks – it is a rarity. Speculators have got the hang of forging almost everything.

But don't panic. If you could not identify a fake by the bottle itself (a crookedly glued excise stamp or label, an unusual shape of a bottle of a drink well known to you, the absence of embossed inscriptions on bottles of elite alcohol, an unusual color of a drink, etc.), a low-quality drink can be recognized by an unusual and unpleasant smell and, of course, taste. By the way, it is better to taste alcohol when sober, when the sense of smell still clearly identifies smells.

What is the danger of serious alcohol poisoning?

  • In case of vomiting, a person can choke on it.
  • Dehydration due to severe vomiting can cause seizures, permanent brain damage, and even death.
  • Lower blood sugar due to excess alcohol and vomiting is also a cause of seizures, and a drop in body temperature can cause death.
  • Severely slow breathing caused by alcohol intoxication can stop at any moment, as can an irregular heart.

What to do in case of alcohol poisoning?

1. Call an ambulance immediately.

2. While the ambulance is coming (which can take a very long time in our country), put the person on their side.

3. If a person does not start vomiting, it must be induced (if the person is conscious) by pressing on the root of the tongue.

4. Don't give the person medicine. The combination of drugs and alcohol can cause death or unexpected side effects.

5. Rinse the stomach with water (if possible), the victim can drink only water or strong tea (preferably green) from drinks.

6. If the person is unconscious, give him a sniff of ammonia. Only carefully and not directly from the bottle, but with the help of cotton wool slightly moistened with ammonia.

7. Ventilate the room, but do not put the person in a cold shower (because their body temperature is already low). It is best to cover the victim with a blanket and remove tight clothing that may make breathing difficult.

8. Constantly check the presence of a person's pulse and breathing, do not leave him alone.

Estet-portal urges not to abuse alcohol, since the problem is easier to prevent than to get rid of its consequences.
