Недостаток витаминов в организме: проявления, осложнения и возможные причины

The value of vitamins cannot be ignored. These biologically active substances affect every process occurring in the human body and ensure proper functioning of internal organs.

But this is possible only with a sufficient amount of vitamins. Otherwise, symptoms gradually develop that indicate the need to pay attention to your health.
How exactly the lack of vitamins in the body manifests itself, and how it affects health, read in our article.

Manifestations and complications of vitamin deficiency in the body

Since vitamins are involved in all processes in our body, their deficiency can also manifest itself in any symptoms and disturbances in work of any organ.

Vitamins A   E

These are the main antioxidants — substances that neutralize the action of free radicals that destroy cells and are one of the reasons for their transformation into malignant. The deficiency of these vitamins is primarily manifested in the condition of the hair and nails: they become dry, brittle, dull. The skin also suffers: a rash appears on it more and more often, and mimic wrinkles quickly deepen, turning into folds and creases. Often there is a decrease in visual acuity, increased fatigue, the formation of burrs around the nails.

Complications:

  • Reproductive disorders (menstrual irregularities, inability to conceive, miscarriage).

  • "Night blindness" — inability to see in darkness.

  • Severe forms of acne.

  • Premature aging of the skin.

Vitamin D and calcium

Calciferol and calcium — partner substances that don't "work" without each other. With their deficiency, spasms of the calf muscles, severe fragility of the hair and their loss, multiple caries are often observed. Severe forms of deficiency of these substances can be manifested by stoop, gait disturbances.

Complications:

  • Osteoporosis

  • Thyroid diseases

  • Increased blood clotting

  • Irregular heart rhythm

Vitamin C

Ascorbic acid — one of the most important substances "from point of view" immune and circulatory system. Its  deficiency is manifested by frequent colds, slow healing of wounds and abrasions, fragility of blood vessels (bruises appear even with a slight and  slight bruise, and  gums may bleed during cleaning), a change in color and  relief of the nail plate (it becomes "striated" ;, yellowish).

Complications:

  • Severe disorders of the immune system

  • High risk of internal bleeding

  • Uterine bleeding

  • Dystrophic changes in tissues (including scurvy)

B vitamins

Thiamin, pyridoxine, cyanocobalamin and other substances from the B group of vitamins are responsible for the functions of the nervous system, muscle function, participate in the metabolism of all substances, in the synthesis of hormones and perform many other functions. Their deficiency is accompanied by disruption of the sebaceous glands (excessive dryness or oiliness of the skin), the appearance of age spots on the skin, cracks in the corners of the mouth, numbness in the fingers and toes, chilliness of the extremities. Also often observed "inexplicable" inflammation of the mucous membranes (stomatitis, vaginitis, rhinitis and other diseases), persistent insomnia, critically high fatigue.

Complications:

  • Endocrine disorders.

  • Disorders of fat and carbohydrate metabolism.

  • Decrease in the sensitivity of soft tissues (up to the point that a person does not immediately feel pain when cut or hit).

  • Non-inflammatory skin conditions (often accompanied by severe itching and cracking).

The listed vitamins are basic — their  deficiency in the first place strikes at health. But far from always introducing foods with a high content of vitamins into the diet or taking pharmaceutical vitamin preparations helps to save the situation. In order to cope with the problem, it is important to eliminate the cause of beriberi.

What can cause a lack of vitamins in the body

Irrational nutrition — far from the most obvious cause of beriberi. There may be circumstances in your life or health that impair the absorption of vitamins or increase your need for them:

  • Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. In chronic diseases of the intestines, stomach, liver and gallbladder, vitamins can be poorly absorbed into the  blood or improperly processed by digestive enzymes, which leads to a change in their structure.

  • Bad habits.Smoking and consumption of large amounts of alcohol and coffee leads to increased consumption of vitamin C and vitamins of the B group, which requires such the same increased intake of into the body.

  • Overwork. Physical or mental fatigue increases the need for all vitamins to restore body and psyche. This is especially true if overwork is combined with lack of sleep.

If a course of taking vitamins did not help to cope with the symptoms of beriberi, be sure to consult a doctor. You may need a more detailed examination to identify the causes of your complaints and eliminate the health problems that "interfere" vitamins are normally absorbed.
