Scientists from the University of Pennsylvania have made a statement that the state of human tissues changes throughout the day and that this can affect the absorption of drugs.
Specialists believe that the different activity of human organs and tissues during the day should be taken into account when prescribing medications. Experts came to this conclusion after studying the cells of 12 types of tissues and the work of DNA on the example of animals. There was a trend of different activity in the period before dawn and sunset. Scientists note that this point must be taken into account when prescribing drugs, because then the treatment promises to become more effective.
In the course of the study, the scientists analyzed tissue samples taken from various organs every two hours. It turned out that 43% of the genes that are associated with the production of proteins, the activity changes throughout the day. Different tissues under the influence of different genes have a special pattern of activity. For example, the most dynamic changes occur in the liver; 3,186 genes are involved in its work during the daytime. At the same time, the hypothalamus during the day uses them much less – only 642 genes.
