Waving process technology: how it works

In order to understand why perm has such a negative effect on the health of your hair, you need to find out how this procedure takes place and what processes take place in each hair.

1.    First of all, the master winds the washed hair on curlers and exposes it to an alkaline lotion based on triglycolic acid salts. The effect of the lotion penetrating the cortical layer of the hair shaft leads to the destruction of disulfide bonds. As a result of treatment with an alkaline solution, the hair is completely straightened.

2.    The alkaline solution is washed off, and the hair is treated with a neutralizer, which includes oxidizing agents (hydrogen peroxide). Under the action of oxidizing agents, new bonds are formed in the hair structure, holding the new shape set during the curling process.

So, in order to get the desired shape of the curls, the hair has to be subjected to a double chemical shock, so the hair after the perm is not only devoid of its former shine.

The strength of the hair along the length – in this case, the hair splits, their ends break off.

"Chemistry" is especially harmful; for dry and weakened hair. Frequent use of curling products in this case will only exacerbate the problem, which means that owners of such hair are better off looking for safer styling methods.

Is there a safe perm

Most likely, this question arises in the first place when you realize that you are not ready to sacrifice the well-groomed silky strands for a shock of unbridled, but dull and brittle curls.

Let's try to clear things up a bit! First of all, we hasten to please you: the beauty industry does not stand still, and, of course, modern curling lotions are more gentle than those that your grandmothers used to torture their hair.

Typically, most salons use two main types of curl fixers:

1.    Means based on acid solution – penetrate into the hair structure without opening the scales and giving the hair rigidity and elasticity.

2.    Alkaline Curlers  - more gentle, they allow you to achieve soft, natural curls. The disadvantage of such products can be considered their extremely low effectiveness for very smooth, heavy hair.

The safety of modern lotions is mainly achieved by reducing the concentration or using better quality ammonia.

In addition, their composition is supplemented with cationic polymers, provitamin B5 and trace elements. Such compounds are less aggressive, however, it is not possible to completely neutralize the negative impact on the condition of the hair after a perm.

The most benign option  for thin and weak hair, a neutral perm can be considered, which is carried out under the action of solutions based on cysteamine.

The use of neutral solutions that do not contain triglycol provides a more gentle effect on the hair, but the result lasts from three months to six months.

Curlers, curling irons and curlers – which is more reliable

So, the safest type of "permanent" using chemical reagents, we will attribute a neutral perm. Experts consider this type of "lesser evil", minimally damaging the hair.

Well, and, of course, let's not forget about our usual, proven ways to achieve the desired look of curls and curls with the help of curlers, curling irons and hairpins.

How safe are these laying methods? Let's find out!

Heat rollers and curling irons, operating on the same principle, are considered by professionals to be quite harmful to the beauty and health of curls.

They are recommended to be used as infrequently as possible – for example, if you need to quickly fix or do your hair.

But on an ongoing basis it is better to use ordinary curlers or foam rubber curlers, which damage the hair to a much lesser extent.

No less harmful is a hot hair dryer, however, if you really need to speed up the drying process of your hair, turn the temperature control to the middle position.

Saving hair after a perm

It's no secret that even the best perms and the best perm products won't save the day if you don't take proper care of your hair.

Fortunately, the modern industry produces a variety of shampoos, masks, balms and conditioners that are designed specifically for permed hair. Do you want your hair to radiate beauty and health even after a perm?

Try to follow these simple rules:

•    after perming, you can wash your hair only on the third day;

•    It is preferable to use special mild shampoos;

•    After washing, apply a balm or mask. Please note: the mask is usually recommended to be rubbed into the roots, the conditioner is only for the hair;

•    You can dye your hair about a week after curling. But doing this before curling does not make sense: the color of hair may change.

Homemade hair restoration recipes

Typically, hair care products that you can really trust are quite expensive.

Needless to say, very often we buy only shampoo, promising ourselves to buy a mask or balm "another time", which, for one reason or another, may not come.

In this case, use our simple recipes for hair masks. They are quite effective and safe, and you can easily find the ingredients for their preparation in your kitchen.

Egg Mask

For this mask you will need:

•    two egg yolks;

•    glycerin – 10 drops;

•    lemon juice – 10 drops;

•    boiled water – 3 art. spoons.

Ingredients mix, apply,  lightly massaging. In order for the hair mask after perm to have the maximum effect, we put on a waterproof cap, wrap it with a towel on top. Wash off after half an hour.

Multivitamin mask

The recipe for this mask is a bit more complicated. To obtain the desired composition, prepare:

•    chamomile – 1 st. spoon;

•    linden inflorescences – 1 st. spoon;

•    dry nettle – 1 st. spoon;

•    vitamins A, B12, B1, E – one ampoule;

•    a few dried slices of black bread;

•    water – 200 ml.

Pour boiling water over the herbs and let it brew for half an hour. Strain our infusion and add bread and vitamins for hair to it, mix until a homogeneous consistency is obtained.

Apply the resulting composition to the hair, massage a little, wrap the head with a towel. This mask can be kept up to one and a half hours.

Permed damaged hair – a completely solvable problem, while the use of expensive branded masks and balms, if desired, can be replaced from time to time with a wide variety of cheap home remedies that have a good effect.

In addition to various masks, you can use herbal decoctions, which will successfully replace the rinse.

Of course, their application requires a little more time, but the result will not disappoint you. Look for more interesting information on the website estet-portal.com
