A person can be healthy provided that his body has a normal metabolism. And a balanced diet is not just the ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, but also the correct ratio of alkaline and acidic foods.

Over the past hundred years, humanity’s diet has changed quite noticeably and, mostly, not for the better, which certainly affects health. The acid-base balance is disrupted, resulting in favorable conditions for the development of serious diseases. But if you approach your diet correctly, alkaline foods will help restore the natural balance and eliminate ailments associated with acidity.

For example, everyone knows that one should not get carried away with sweet products. But those who try not to consume it also need to remember: sugar is hidden in sausages, semi-finished products, and ketchups. And the composition of the drink Pepsi-Cola, beloved by many, in addition to sugar, also contains phosphoric acid that is not at all useful: we can say that with the participation of the latter an additional blow is dealt to acid-base balance.

How to "turn" acidic foods into alkaline foods

It may come as a surprise to many that most fruits acidify the blood. But we cannot discount the fact that fruits also contain minerals that alkalize the blood. At the same time, the amount of sugar in very sweet fruits outweighs the quantitative composition of minerals. We should not forget that other (unsweetened) fruits are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, but their acidifying effect is still minimal. And in this case, it’s good to use everything in moderation.

As for animal foods that acidify the blood, the following is known. The meat of game or those animals (birds, fish), whose nutrition is provided by natural food, acidifies the blood much less than the meat of their “relatives” fed with compound feed.

The situation with milk is this: a pasteurized product has an acidifying effect, while raw milk, on the contrary, alkalizes. In this regard, we hasten to praise those mothers who feed their babies breast milk for as long as possible - at least up to a year: it is precious because it has a mild alkalizing effect.

In eggs, the acidic “pest” is the white (in addition, it also contains a considerable amount of allergens), but the yolk is essentially neutral. It is better to eat it soft-boiled.

And if you want to leave grains in your menu that also have an oxidizing effect, then you should keep in mind: the most harmless ones in this regard are millet, buckwheat and pseudo-grains such as quinoa or rice quinoa.

Acidic alkalizing products and alkalizing champions

Incredibly, sour-tasting fruits and berries (mainly lemon, orange, lime, cranberry, cherry), having convertibility properties, alkalize the blood during the digestive reaction.

The following fruits and berries will also not disturb the acid-base balance: pears, grapefruit, mango, watermelon, unsweetened coconut, raspberries, dates, bananas.

Alkalinization of the body: taking soda to its advantage

And the leaders in alkalization are vegetables.

In this sense, they are all good, but some of the most alkaline are cucumbers, avocados, and celery. Only potatoes saturated with starch are “unreliable” in terms of alkalization. The latter, once in the intestines, instantly turns into sugar.

Those who have difficulty digesting fiber, particularly insoluble fiber, need to eat both raw and cooked vegetables. You just shouldn’t resort to excessive processing of vegetables.

So, if you want to prolong your life, eat according to the recommendations of yogis, who have long divided food into acidic and alkaline. And if the use of the first is fraught with various diseases, then the second, on the contrary, gives strength and prolongs life.
