Nature of the problem
The skin of the genital organs is subject to general patterns of physiological and pathological changes. The processes of maturation, renewal, aging take place in it, which in different women can proceed at different speeds, depending on their individual characteristics.
Studies have shown that the skin of the genitals contains an increased number of sex hormone receptors (cellular structures that perceive hormones). In this regard, the genitals are subject to hormonal changes due to age, pregnancy and childbirth.
Decreased turgor and flabbiness of the skin of the labia, in addition to an aesthetic defect, also has a great functional significance. Insufficient tone of the labia reduces the filling and tension of the vaginal vestibule during intercourse, which worsens the quality of sexual life and orgasm for both partners.
Using fillers to rejuvenate the female vulva
Medical rejuvenation of the external genitalia is aimed at bringing their parameters as close as possible to the standards of a young nulliparous woman.
Today, the most interesting area of non-surgical plastic surgery is the introduction of fillers (from the English filler — filler) — biodegradable substances based on hyaluronic acid. These substances are not foreign to our body. Hyaluronic acid is the basis, the frame of the connective tissue. Therefore, it is not rejected, does not cause allergic reactions, does not migrate, and can be absorbed over time.
And, what is especially important, this substance is biologically active, i.e. it changes its properties when the physiological state of the organism changes. For example, during sexual arousal, it retains fluid, which increases the turgor and elasticity of the genital tissues.
To correct atrophic changes in the labia, as a rule, high-density fillers based on hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin, which is a natural component of human connective tissue, are used.
These preparations are injectable implants that locally increase the hydrophilicity of the skin, which reduces its sagging and increases the volume of the labia. Lidocaine, which is usually included in their composition, reduces pain in patients during and after injection.
The natural composition of such fillers and the possibility of their biodegradation (resorption) over time often necessitate repeated injections for additional correction. Although, in my experience, the need for repeated corrections in intimate plastic surgery is much lower than when using similar preparations on the face. This is probably due to a more pronounced blood supply and mimic activity of the face, which stimulates accelerated degradation.
