"What does it mean to be an adult?" – this question is often asked by children, but even adults themselves cannot always give a clear answer. Not everyone knows how to understand that a person has matured and grown. When it happens – after graduating from school or university, when does a family appear or a job in demand?

After all, an adult can have all this, but he can behave like a teenage child. How to understand that you really have matured, and not just acquired the "attributes of adulthood"? The editors of estet-portal.com will tell about the qualities of a mature personality.

What qualities distinguish an adult from one who remains a child internally:

1.    Responsibility – it is the ability to learn from your mistakes and not make them again, the understanding that only you are responsible for actions and their consequences.

2.    Understanding the value of information – it is not enough just to know a lot. It is important to understand how to put into practice the acquired skills and information.

3.    Independence – it is not only the ability to earn on your expenses, but also the autonomy of thinking. An adult person relies on his own conclusions, knows how to listen to advice, but always draws his own conclusions. He does not follow someone else's instructions without considering their benefits to himself.

4.    Intrinsic motivation – children are motivated by their parents, and an adult decides to do certain things. Even the ones he doesn't like. For example, he understands why he really needs sports, why it is important to eat right, why bad habits are dangerous. You don't have to wait for a "hint" for this; from the side.

5.    Vigilance – a person learns from the mistakes of others and is able to recognize situations when they are being manipulated, they are trying to deceive him. He does not fall for the bait of scammers, does not believe in dubious offers on the Internet, etc.

All these signs indicate that we have – mature adult personality. This person clearly understands what he wants, knows how to take responsibility for his actions, independently makes decisions, understands the value of knowledge.

3.    The ability to control one's behavior, not to shift responsibility for one's actions onto other people or life in general.

4.    The ability to accept information that is unpleasant for oneself, the "bitter truth", and not attempts to distance oneself, "hide one's head in the sand". An adult is ready to face a problem, to solve it, and does not shift it onto someone else's shoulders, does not fence off.

5.    Accepts his experience and past – an adult draws conclusions, learns from his mistakes and is not ashamed of them. He understands that everything is already in the past, and you need to act in the present.
